Ipod integration with t1807?
Is it possible to have ipod integration with the t1807 stock radio (in my 2006 xA)? This isn't the ipod model, but I was hoping you could buy a kit to achieve the same result. Here's what I'm looking at:
Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod Interface/Controller:

DICE iPod Integration Kit:

I haven't removed my stereo, so I'm not really sure what I'm dealing with in terms of wiring. Searching ebay gave me a picture of the connections:

Am I wasting my time? Should I just spring for the $300 upgrade, or can I do this for cheaper? I'm not thrilled with living with just the aux input

I think these are my two essential questions:
For the Pioneer interface, it requires IPBUS connectivity on the stereo. I get the impression the t1807 doesn't have this. So on to option 2...
For the DICE integration unit, it has to plug into the same place where you would plug in a cd changer. Is the t1807 capable of controlling a cd changer?
TIA

I installed this into my xA without issue. After updating the firmware on my ipod, the DICE product works great. Displays song info on the factory head unit, the controls on the steering wheel work as you would expect them to. You can't change songs past the end of a playlist, but I didn't expect a great user interface with only two buttons (track up, track down) when the ipod has a scroll wheel.
I installed the ipod cable into the glove box, so there is no indication when you are looking at the car that there is an ipod connected to the stereo. Overall I am very pleased with the results.

Well, I never got any response, but I'm pretty sure the answer to your question is no. The only way to integrate an ipod (i.e. have a digital connection, allowing control from the head unit and steering wheel) with this stereo is to trick it into thinking it is connected to a cd changer. The DICE kit plugs into the cd changer port, and you switch the stereo to the cd changer by hitting CD twice.
If all you want is to plug in your ipod through the AUX port (an analog connection, no ipod control from the stereo), then you can do this with a $5 cable.
