Default JL audio or Alpine?????????

Ok I have been shopping around at local shops... and I have been pulled between two brands from two different shops... I already purchased jl xr speakers and I know I want the alpine cda9855 what it boils down to is do I get the jl 300/4 and 500/1 and 2 jl 10w6 or alpine 2 type x 12" subs and MRV-F345 and MRD-M1005... I got offered a great deal on the alpine but I like jl alot even though its a retail.

My personal opinion is that the JL amps are *much* more clean than the Alpine's. And that's coming from someone who has run Alpine h/u's for years, so it's not like I'm against their technology.

I just went through this same decision.....I bought (2) 500/1's Looks like I'm only gonna need one tho, I'm only gonna run one sub. As far as the subs go, That will come down to whether you are looking for loudness or sound quality, and how much you are looking to spend. IIRC, the Type x's are gonna run you less per sub, and sound cleaner, but not thump as hard.

Is there a particular reason you want the same amps/subs?

I only asked, cause I used to be Alpine only. Then I got into PPI amps, and MBQuart speakers. Then JL subs.
Now, I don't really care about sticking to one name. I'm lucky in that my neighbor is a distributor, so I can get a lot of different brands cheap(er) then store/ebay pricing. Plus, there are a bunch of high end stores nearby, so I can go listen to all kinds of combinations.

I chose Alpine... I had an Alpine headunit in my ghettosled '86 Grand Prix before I got the box, and I loved it... My dad got my mom's Town & Country LXi hooked up with Alpine head unit, amp & speakers ( not sure which models), but yeah. I prefer Alpine.

check out focal and audison... don't worry about the power... something around 300 - 500 watts for the sub is plenty for that small of a car...

if you have the cash spring for it.. youll be happy

The apline brand is made for it to be a complete system like F1 status if you keep everything alpine your system will sound better all alpine products are made for each other if your looking to mix it up some good hook ups are alpine head units jl audio amps and jl audio w7's are your best bet for subs for components i reccomend mb quart premium this combination will sound sweet but if you were to go F1 all alpine watch out the sound is incredible!!

well if I had 8k + to spend on a system then I would spring for the alpineF1status that stuff is nice and priced at the price of our cars... i'm leaning more towards jl... but I am not sure... gotta finish deadening the car first

Alpine isn't bad at all...there are alot of really good alpine systems out there....but I'd get the JL's simply because you already have JL components......keep it uniform....those comps will rock with a JL amp to them...

wouldn't it be nice to have the ride of a caddy (non trucks), handling of an evo, and pure speed of a hayabusa?

well with audio you can do something similar by picking out your components...
It does look nice to have everything in your trunk to be the same brand... but you might compromise something...

JL is one of the few companies were their product line works best together...

a couple things to think about

The good thing about Alpine is you can controll the amp from the headunit. You can tune and adjust you amp while you are on the go. You can adjust EVERYTHING not just gain like most of your other amps. Alpine also sell a remote amp controller that allows you to adjust the amp from a remote. I have that and you can adjust EVERYTHING. I know the JL amp controller only alows you to adjust the bass!

After the research I did for my system I ended up with the JL 15W6 subs and for the HU I really like alpine but they do WAY more than I will ever need so I decided why pay that much for something I will not take full advantage of?

The Alpine headunits give you the best controll over your music. There higher up headunits give you built in EQ and built in Crossover along with a few other things to help tune your sound. They are very advanced headunits with a tone of features that will give you total controll over your music!
