JL Audio vs Kicker
OK so I am trying to deside on my new audio set up. Mind you I have worked in car audio for 2 years. So this is just everyones thoughts.
-Current Setup:
Pioneer AVIC-D1
Pioneer 6 1/2 4Ways (front)
Pioneer 5 1/4 3Ways (rear)
-My Kicker plan:
Kicker 10" L7 Sub
Kicker 06ZX750.1 Amp
Kicker 06ZX650.4 4Ch Amp
Kicker 6 1/2" RS Series Component Speakers (front)
Kicker 5 1/4" RS Series Componet Speakers (rear)
-My JL Audio plan
JL 10W7 Sub
JL 500/1 Amp
JL 450/4 4Ch Amp
JL XR650-CSi Speakers (front)
JL XR525-CSi Speakers (rear)
These should both be on the same quality level for each product.
Any thoughts on these two would be appricated. Personal experience is welcome. Stats are good too. Give me whatcha got.

Kicker (from personal experience)
I don't have much experience with kickers zx series amps, however, I do have a lot of experience with their sx series, and they are very nice. However, the setup you have listed would work great.
Lol, again, I have worked with the SS series speakers, not the RS series, and they are damn clean! very very nice!!
I suggest the kicker setup you have listed. It will sound very clean, and hit pretty hard (although I am a fan of multiple 12" subs, a 10" would be fine if thats what you like).
1 Question: are you going to keep the D1 as the source unit? Although it would do just fine, something with more powerful audio outputs would be better (but I don't think anything is availalbe in a double din).

ECLIPSE 5V :D but yea I'm staying with Pioneer. Might even get the Z1
btw the ZX is the KX
SS wouldn't fit with out some serious modding.
Buddy of mine had 2 10" L7 hooked up to a 1200.1 in the back of his Mag and had to take one out .. too loud, couldnt enjoy it.

Lol, too loud sounds like something I would enjoy ;)
Me personally, I would get the Pioneer AVH-P7800DVD. 5V preouts at 6channels!! suh-weet!!
And I would hook up a seperate navigation unit.
But that's just me.

It really depends on what type of sound you want.
I can tell you that Kicker is used more often for SPL, rather than SQL. JL definitely is competitive in the SPL area as well, but they are more versatile as far as SQL vs SPL.
The real drawback I see with JL is that you pay for the name. It's high quality stuff, but you're paying Ferrari prices and yet only getting an ACURA NSX in performance level.
I don't know a great deal about Kicker's pricing, but from my personal experiece, I didn't like their lineup as much as I like JL. They can certainly hit hard, but They weren't as clean as I'd like.

I agree that Kicker takes too much effort to get a good SQ sound out of them... their really good components are way upward of $500 and that's pretty much rediculous... JL's are pricey as well, but I've never heard a JL speaker or subwoofer that didn't have great SQ....
check out Elemental Design... really great SQ/SPL and factory direct pricing.... a.k.a. GREAT product to dollar ratio!!! the eDi6500s have better bass response and clearer tweets than the JL XR650-CSi's (both in a tC) and they only run $250...

I see a lot of people saying kicker has poor SQ, but as a shop owner and installer, I want to say that is not the case with their higher line of speakers/subs. They are a little expensive (as is JL), but the sound quality is definitely there.
^^^^ I don't have any personal experience with Elemental Design, but I do know most everyone on this forum swears by it.

The lines I am looking at are the higher end models. Not the DS, KS Series in Kicker, but also not the SS. The JL XR series is comparable to the RS series Kicker in price and RMS.
go with JL if you have the money but if you dont go with kicker. I have a W7 and XR653-CS 3-Way Component Systems in my box. the amps I run with are, the 1000/1 and 450/4. my friends say it too loud. All that was a bit pricey but it well worth it. all I need is AVH-P7800DVD I have the 5700DVD but i think the AVH-P7800DVD will be a lot nicer. I dont really like how the kicker subs are made. a tiny magnet, I heard the subs blow alot. the kicker componet are tiny and look cheap. do the right thing go with JL.

just scratch both off the list and go with a diamond audio set up D6 comp. amps and D9 subs. about the same price as the JL and will blow them away.
but fi i had to pick, the kicker amps, mids /tweets with the JL sub. the W7 is a tough woofer to beat the only thing is the price tag

I'd definitely recommend checking out a pair of eDi6500s and some of their subs/amps... crazy stuff!
