They require an obscenely large box for a Q of .707, sound really boomy, and are expensive... not to mention they don't handle much power daily compared to other subs in the price range.

Not a huge fan, can you tell?

they are exceptionally loud.... when they hit in a ported box its kinda sloppy and slugish.... and they have not that great sound quality... they are mostly jus a looks thing thats kinda worn out (like Altezzas YUK!).... IMO jus buy some Rockford Hx2s at sounddomain.com ( I am not advertising just suggesting) they have great prices on all things car audio and great customer service too.

I know DenZinz will come and back me up on this one sometime real soon.

Check out Crossfire Car Audio. They are making some awesome subs and amps these days. I run a lot of their stuff and have never had any problems.

Memphis Car Audio also makes some good stuff, I am currently trying out some of their speakers, amps, and subs and I have been very pleased with the quality of their products.

But ya know, it is a lot of preference. one person will tell you one thing and one will tell you another so it all comes down to the most part what you like.

i really could care less about brand and size. my main concern is sound quality and price. also to be able to custom a box in the spare tire compartment that doesn't take up anymore space than if i didn't have a sub.

ncscion, I have the setup in the rear compartment in my xB. Check it out here.

I run a Memphis 10" sub off of a 300 watt Memphic M-Class amp. It sounds very clean, and I am very pleased with it.

a few things about the solobarics ...

if you get a 12" for 200 ... you're doing pretty damn good since that's about dealer cost ... and it's less than 1/2 the msrp ...

as for the size of the box needing to be extremely big... it's because one L7 moves the same amount of air as 2 12" diameter subs

KiL did get a slammin deal via ebay auction... obviously ... if a dealer buys an assload of the same sub, the wholesaler can usually cut a better deal

Yeah.......the L7s need a a lot of air. I'm probably near suffocating the poor things in their tiny small box. I'm sure they'd hit much harder with a big azz vented enclosure...........but.......I don't feel like building one.........and, they hit plenty hard enough for me.

Beskone should be able to vouch for me.......its got some bump to it.

to get the full potential out of a L7 it has to be used in a ported box....the only down size is the box is huge....other than that the sub is very impressive

you'd have to build a ported enclosure to see the full quality of the L7. it hits really hard, n i mean really hard. hehhe.

kinglou l7 just don't hit hard, they hit hard. He is only using .88 cubic feet per woofer, he is juicing em pretty hard, that why they hit hard and he is able to keep them under control. i don't know about power handling ability, If the box is sealed and I mean sealed like a fish tank no leaks, they handle the juice. Kil l7 handle complex base line pretty well also. I like em. Bill

Yeah......I've considered going the vented/ported enclosure route. But.......I had to ask myself if it was really necessary. With the sealed enclosure........sure.......I'm not getting the kinda SPL I can get with a properly built vented enclosure. However, as my system is set up right now........it gets plenty loud enough for me.......sets off car alarms, rattles the insides of people's houses. So, I'm thinking I'll just enjoy the flexibility and space saving value of the sealed box.............rather than busting my hump to build a properly tuned vented enclosure, and end up with a box that's way too big, and louder than I care to hear.

Besides.....my main motivation behind getting the L7s was their square shape (goes with the car)........and I got a wicked deal.

ebay has a fraud department for things like this....and if u payed with paypal using a credit or used a credit card in a any way call your credit card company and have the charges reversed....simple as that....if not then u can cantact ebay for the sellers information and call his local police and tell them about it...ive been frauded on ebay a couple times....i used my credit card to make the purchase and immediately called them and had the charges reversed....the sellers usually become real nice when paypal pulls the money from their account cause the credit card company just pulled it from paypal....also i filed the forms with ebay and had their ebay account deleted...wrote paypal an email and paypal froze their funds and their paypal accounts....so i got my money....and the crap they sent me....and they were out shipping $ and they wasted their time....
all things considering...ive done many ebay transactions every month for the past couple years and only got probs 2 times....i cant complain
