I'd go to carsound.com and post up there. A few Best Buy people there that actually KNOW their stuff and could give you an honest review.

If you think Best Buy doesn't sell crap then you're wrong. You get what you pay for.

Hello. Im someone who knows their crap who has worked for BB for the past 8 years. The Dual is junk. Please do NOT waste your money in buying anything with this brand name on it. Im constantly switching out and exchanging these products from customers cars who we have almost begged to reconsider when they first made their purchase. Anything you can name that would go wrong with a Dual product has and will. Id say 3-4 of every 6 radios we sell of theirs comes back with a problem within a few months.

Best Buy does sell decent stuff... its just not always on display for the customer. We now have access to get several higher end components. Currently we carry the Kenwood in dash DVD touchscreen which is a nice piece and we recently picked up the Pioneer AVIC-N1 which the whole industry has been raving about. Our overhead systems and security is all DEI and Audiovox stuff, both respectable brands. The only thing I wish Best Buy would improve on is its speaker selection. While Fosgate is ok for most people, Id rather see something better.

Circuit City has recently lost Alpine as one of their brands and Ill give you one guess as to where that corporate giant of car audio is headed.....

Forgot why but I remeber some CC stores were clearing out the Alpine stuff, mine hasn't yet though.

BrianxB-Why won't Best Buy just at least put on display some of the good stuff. I know with graphics card they won't stock the $500 dollar ones but willg et them to you through "customer Fulfillment" program. But like 1% of customers know about it.

Thats the main problem within the stores. Most of the time that you go into a Best Buy you will deal with a part time associate, especially if youre there in the evening and the employees arent really given the resources to really know what they can order. Its all from memory. I manage my stores 12v dept so I know most of what we can get for car electronics. I mention it to customers all the time but they usually never purchase anything through our ordering system because the demographics of my average buyer is that of an impulse buyer. They want it now. There are certain Best Buy stores that are called "centricity" stores which do display higher end products on their shelves. My store is not one of them though.

As a Employee of Best Buy Install Bay and Circuit City Roadshop I can tell you what is and isn't ____. Circuit City isn't losing Alpine. All the managers and floor as well as installers have Alpine in. I have Pioneer but thats from my days at Best Buy. I can tell you that Circuit City has a much higher line of equipment as well as install techniques. i.e. The Alpine RS Subwoofers and Alpine amps. Or if you choose to go higher in price and quality, The Infinity brand. Infinity Subwoofers, Amps and Speakers are all highly recommened. An Alpine Deck with Infinity.

If you are interested in the Press Release on the Best Buy / Alps partnership:

http://www.thetwistergroup.com/store...9882&source=sp
Its the Dual Deck under the true Namsung name.
There are reasons you can get a Dual CD Player (or tape) and LED Speakers Cheap.

DEI products have a ton of problems as compared to Code Alarm and Audiovox (which btw Audiovox owns Code Alarm)
i.e. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Code-...oductDetail.do
Code Alarm 425 Unit. Programable security, remote unlock/start.

The AVIC-N1 is a nice unit. But if you want power it isn't what you want.
Preout Voltage: 2V, 100 Ohm
(Which is also avalible for order @ Circuit City)

hey everyone, i've been full time sales in car audio with best buy for a little over 2 years now. yeah, dual is crap. have you ever heard of it before?? thats what i say to customers.

i like to say it this way.

would you buy a daewoo?? sure it may look nice, but its still a daewoo....
(no offense to any daewoo owners)

like brian said, we do sell good stuff, just dont have it in the stores. the avicn1, not worth it for a stereo performance point of view. its pure ICE.

yeah we sell service plans for a reason, THEY"RE WORTH IT. if you pass it up on speakers, kick yourself in the ___. you blow the speakers out, you bring them back, we give you new ones.

anyone have questions about anything i said, shoot me a pm.
brian, what store u work at??

Jim

the other day i installed a dual head unit with a 2.5 in screen in a buddy of mines car and it was complete trash. i would rather not have a system at all than have anything to do with a trashy product like that.

Installers between BB and CC....LOLS

Around here they're known for their great insurance program. Putting holes through roofs and gas tanks. not to diss all installers, but no one is better than the other.

DEI whoops but on everyone but Autopage, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Dude, youre so proud to work at circuit, its hilarious. You think that just because now you have to solder everything you do that you have much better install practices?? Right, love the way that Circuit advertises MECP certification these days.. oh wait, they DONT. The truth is Circuit used to be a somewhat respected place for installation around here but now they will pretty much hire any fool off of the streets. Im not saying Best Buy doesnt either but at least they will actually encourage the education of the installer. Since you live in Ellicot city Id assume that you work at the Arundel Mills store, is it still full of incompentent crackheads? it sure was when I worked for Circuit. You guys had several 12v managers there that couldnt install to save their lives. I remember fixing a set of headrests that one did in a minivan, looked like a 3 year old put them in. Or how about this? I FIRED a salesperson for STEALING from my store and he was reported to a retail backround checking system that Circuit City uses actively when hiring people and what did Circuit do? They hired him. What did they do when I made their store director aware of it? Nothing. If I was a customer at CC Id sure like to know that the person working on my car wasnt a known thief....
Keep thinking that Infinity is great stuff... Im not saying its crap, but its not anyting better than Pioneers comparable products.. You ARE most likely losing Alpine. My source from circuit is at a corporate level, not store. If you like Code Alarm, good. Ill stick with putting in a system that has a brain less than the size of mini cooper.... To compare the problems that DEI has compared to Code alarm, must one take into consideration how many people out there own a DEI product vs how many own a Code Alarm which is like comparing the population of China to the population of Hawaii.

Audiovox owns Code Alarm? Since when? This is their current site... I dont know about you but I see no Code Alarm...
http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/s...ductId=&brand=

If you think Audiovox is a great brand, thats neat because Best Buy carries that as well.
