Default LED help.

Ok......so I got all my cathodes and such hooked up and working. But....I'm having trouble with the LEDs for the cupholders. They say their 12v, and supposed to be able to handle 12-14v.............but, when I had them all set up......I turned them on........and they were on for a few minutes, then they burned up and melted.

Any help here? Thanks.

I'm using this:

It might have a little resistor in that housing somewhere. Its made for computers. Computers are 12v right?

yes pc stuff are 12v but one thing that im not sure with that led setup is that if it can handle upto 14v(which an alternator pushes out when the engine is on). the way i did mine was i used a resistor for a 14v setup and not a 12v on my leds. or you may have just gotten a defective set.

Yeah computer stuff is 12 volts but stays at 12volts. It dosent raise and lower constantly like in an automobile. You can get as high as 15 volts at times in a car and burn them up. The ones CRxB showed you would be better suited for your application.
