Default LED tails question

hey if i was to purchase some LEDs for my tail lights, would i have to buy a resistor (i think thats what its called) like i would for LED blinkers, would they still light up brighter when i applied the breaks?

thanks in advance.

depends on where you get your leds from. auto illumination.com will sell loose led's and led bulbs, already wired up... though i dont know if they fit, contact them first

they will not light up brighter when you hit the breaks unless you wire them as such...

and if you havent done this kinda stuff before, do your research, itll save alot of wasted time and $

I have LED bulbs in my tails, just replacement. They are not brighter but much cooler(higher color temperature). They are red LEDs behind the red lenses so you get pure red color instead of yellowish red from the stock bulbs. BUT they are not as powerful as the regular stock bulbs.
You need resistors only for the signals. That's because the LED doesn't have a filament to close the circuit.
I got mine from superbrightleds.com

Yes, they do. Make sure you get the dual contact bulbs though. There is a single contact bulb for the same socket which wont get brighter when you apply the brake.
7443 is the dual contact
7440 is the single one
