Can anybody tell me how to wire my led's to the dome light circuit? I've got the wires ran from my led's to the dome light but I don't know which wire s to connect them to. I want tbem to work when my doors open or when I turn on the dome light manually.

 

See if you can take the dome case out and see where the wires run to and if you can find the wire that attaches to the part of the switch that says "Door" then just cut that wire to tap into it.

I'm also curious about getting this to work.

 

Just remember the LED's will be on or off and no dimming effect like the dome light. My suggestion would be just put a switch for it.

Thanks, I found out how to wire them to the dome light. I don't want them on all the time I chose blue LED's and I believe they're illegal in NJ while driving.

Yeah, a how to with pictures would be great. I have put neons under the dash, under the seats and LED's in the cupholders but having some LED's in the handles up top would be cool.

 

Go to www.autolumination.com click on LED light fixtures scroll down to slow speed non blinking light strips. I brought two sets.
1) Remove Oh S#$% handles
2) Remove re-inforcing ribs on underside of handles.(I used a razor knife)
3) Trim light strips down to fit in between handle recess you have created.
4) Attach light strips with silicone routing wiring through existing hole in back of handle.
5) Re-install handles routing wiring behind headliner edge where it meets door weatherstripping.
6) Run wiring either to dome light or to switch whichever you prefer.
Will try to post pictures, i've already done this mod but I will take some pictures to show how it was done.

Is the plastic part of the light bar totally flush in the handle?

 

Were you able to wire to the dome light without removing the headliner?

 

Why wouldnt the LED's dim? I would think they would. LED's are dimmable.

They are just about flush, you don't even notice they're there.
I removed the weatherstripping around the front and back doors, removed the handles and unsnapped just the top of the of the center post cover, unscrewed the dome light and used a wire hanger from the dome light to the edge of the headliner. just pull the headliner away at the edge and you can feel for the wire hanger. tape your LED wires to the hanger and pull back to the dome light. re=install you handles wire to the dome, and you're done

 

Do they dim with the dome lite?

 

Yes they do, I also replaced the dome light bulb with a 6 LED bulb from autolumination.

I think I just found it silly me.

 

I wonder if you are trying to just add lights or if you want different handles too. Just a few days ago at scion night there was an xB with clear grab handles with lights in them. And they looked like the same shape as stock. They were awesome! NVSTAT is the one who owned the car, and I've been trying too look for whoever makes handles like that ever since Friday. I found some clear lighted grab handles online but they look pretty and like they'd be longer than what I'm looking for.

The last time I heard someone talking about lighted oh ____ handles they said they actually replaced them with PC ones... there were pics but I can't seem to find the original thread... Do a google on lighted case handles though and you will find some links to other places selling them as well perhaps with better pictures.
