Does anybody have an actual-size template of the MDF spacers we're supposed to use on the front doors? I'd like to print something out and transfer it onto some MDF and cut it out.

I know crutchfield sells them for like $10. Or if you order your speakers from them, they include them and easy wiring harness for free. Let me see if i can find the link...

Now when you try to add them for Free with your speaker purchase, they database wont allow you to add it with a 6.5" speaker for some reason. Guess it thinks it wont fit. Probably would have to talk to a real person to get the order correct.

 

Anybody using plastic cutting boards instead of MDF? They're supposed to be very non-resonant and, of course, waterproof

 

Does anyone have a .pdf file we can just print out and cut ourselves?

 

i cut mine out on a cnc. 1/2" mdf plate w/ 1/2" mdf ring to space speaker out further. i have a set sitting round i think if you want them for like 10$ shipped. i also have plates for the rear as well

 

I have the templates, I just need to start making stuff. I might not have to make them as deep because I have shallow speakers

Will the PDF print at true 1:1 scale?

That was the trouble I was having with sending files and a program to print with. Nothing I could find (for free anyways) printed to scale.

I did not want someone to make the spacers and find out they were not to size. Wasted time, material and patience! So now I just print them, guaranteed to scale, from the native CAD program and send them (done) via snail mail.

They were designed for eDi 6500s with a depth of 2.8" using 2x 3/4" MDF. Calculate from there to fit your speaker depth.

HondAudio, how are your spacers coming?

 

it should print full scale. What i did was printed it fron autocad in full scale, scanned it into my pdf scanner, so if you print it it should be full scale i believe

 

Why not just email the CAD file?

 

I CAN DO THAT TOO, DIDENT KNOW EVERYONE HAD ACCESS TO CAD
