Default Looking for ideas for a system setup!

Ok. Just got my box on Saturday and I'm already thinking about what to do with a system.

The kind of music I listen to mainly is hard rock. Atreyu, Metallica, etc.
Some mix of techno and a tiny bit of rap (really just there for big bumps).

What I was thinking was something like 4 10's. The reason for this is the smaller cone size leads to quicker response correct? And the music I listen to generally has fast bumps.

If I go this route, what am I looking at as far as amp size? Will I need a cap(s)?

Looking to be in the $500-$1000 range.

All input is welcome!

i would recommend going with a sealed enslosure/s since you're looking for fast rock/techno bass

I have a sealed enclosure and i love it! I don't make any adjustments at all when changing from rock to hip hop. The rock bass sounds tight and responsive and the rap hits niiiiice.

Pioneer H/U

Yeah I have to agree w/ prototype on the sealed box for those quicker responses you'll need for your type of music. As far as doing 4 10's you'll def want to look at getting a cap for the current draw. This wont fix the problem of headlights dimming though, it just cleans up the power going to the amp for cleaner sound. Amp wise, it all depends on what subs you do. I can almost guarantee that if you want to stay in the 500-1000 range, you might want to think about just doing 2 quality 10" subs and a quality amp. Dont cheap out and just get a bunch of crappy cheap subs and then have it sound like crap when it hits.

If it were me:

4 10" Pioneer TSW256DVC 10" DVC Subs
-350w nominal
-800w peak
-74 oz. magnet
($75 each) http://www.savinglots.com/lotprod.asp?item=TSW256DVC

2 Pioneer GM-5100T 760 Watt 2-Channel Amplifiers
-190w RMS x2 @ 2ohm
($115 each) http://www.savinglots.com/lotprod.asp?item=GM5100T

Wire each sub 2ohm, 760 watts RMS and 1520 watts of peak power

I'd poop my pants

Total cost before shipping:

$530

Leaving a good deal of dough for an enclosure and a HU

Again if it were me, i would get a 2.0 Farad cap. Some say caps hinder rather than help, but i'm on the fence.

Pioneer is underrated in my opinion. I have experience with audiobahn, memphis, and alpine. My favorite overall is Pioneer/Premier. Best bang for the buck IMO.

Anyways, i'm biased--> I'm a Pioneer fanboy (I have Pioneer EVERYTHING) \/\/

What's funny is I think I have that exact HU in my beater car. Or one VERY similar (maybe a year earlier's model), cus my left **** is round and smooth and pops out if I want it to.

I'm pretty new at ICE so I appreciate the help.

P.S. Your tails, did you smoke them yourself?

Hold on you dont listen to rap but you want 4 10's, thats a little over kill dont you think, Dont get me wrong 4 10's is an awsome idea, but you could go with one 10 or 2 10's and be fine with what you listen to, just my 2 cents worth. Belive me i had two 10's in a hatchback that would beat any 4 10's or 12's maybe even 15's in sound quality and in bass, ive got one kicker L5 10 now that beats my box down like 4 10's. Good luck man.

Well atleast you admit you like over kill, admiting it is the first step to helping your problem, LoL. Have fun blasten cars off the road with your subs, and get some good pics of what you end up with...

I am working on a box for three 10s under the stock floor peices. I did 2 before, but did not like the finished products. The 10s that I am using are Diamond Audio DS3 10 D4s being powered off of a Diamond audio D61500.1, the airspace for the 3 subs is 1.5 cubic feet.

I listen to the same type of music, and I think this will work out perfect.

Indeed... I have 2 of these in a 30Hz. ported box with ~600watts and they bump clean clean clean!!!! I think I'll eventually get 2 more because my fiancee still doesn't understand the concept of quality over volume... women...

ive had 2 15s in a previous car sound tighter and hit alot harder than someone with 2 10s...it has everything to do with the speaker you choose the box that is built for it and the amplifier...those 3 things are not created equal.
15s do not always equal boomy bass and 10s do not always equal tight bass.
i currently have a 12 in a big ported box and it hits super fast and tight.
Im going to be trying out 2 15s sealed soon...just to have a change :D
