MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM!!!
Ok, having some major probs with my xB. Basically, here is the jist of it.
I noticed today that the following electrical does not work:
-speedo
-tach
-gas gauge
-power windows
-rear deforst
-a/c
-blower
-signals (however, four-ways DO work)
My radio DOES work as does my wipers and power locks. My headlights DO work as does my interior lighting (ie, gauge backlight, etc). My 'Door Open' light and all my other lights in the message center work just fine too.
To me, it seems that the car is not recogizing when the key goes past or in 'ACC' when i turn the car on. I beleive this cause when the car is actually running and i open the door, the door 'chime' goes off like the car is in 'OFF' and I left my key in.
We checked all fuses/relays today with the test light and they all were good. We even VISUALLY inspected all of them as well.
I cant go to the dealer cause, well, we dont have them in Canada and the Toyota techs havent been trained on the wiring.
Anyone else run into a similar problem or have any ideas? Thanks...

And yes, it just happened for no reason. I pulle my bBox out of storage about a week ago and everything has been running fine since then. I went for a coffee run yesterday, turned my truck off, went inside, and when I came back out and drove away. When i was sitting at the lights, i had my subs up loud and looked at my gauge cluster. Nothing was working so I thought that maybe I wasnt really paying attention to how I was driving and stalled out my Scion. Turned it off and restarted and that when I realized I had a problem. I work at a shop and we briefly checked it over (ie, fuses, relays, etc) and found them all to be good.
Like I said, it seems that the ECU is not recognizing the 'ACC' position on my ignition???
report back with findings on the Ign switch. Also, check your alternator voltage while the car is running.
Is anything hooked to your ignition switch wiring or other wiring in the car that could be backfeeding ?

your "message center" lights are tied into the second ignition so unless something is crossed then that rules out the ignition. i have installed about 6 alarms on scions, 3 of which were remote start so i am very familiar with what is on which ignition.

if you second ignition is in fact not getting power then your cooling system will not come on and you could overheat the motor.... turn your a/c in and let it idle and listen for the electric cooling fans to kick on.
