Default mech cockpit

Hello everyone, I just bought my xa, and I love it. It reminds me of a cockpit of some kind. It reminds me of a mech! I want to do a robot theme with this. Any ideas?

Welcome to the xA family. If your looking for a mech theme in your car you cant go wrong with with a bunch of military style toggle switches. I have 1 on each side of the steering wheel, 1 next to the mirror switch that controls the blue lights in my car and another down on the right hand side that controls the subs. I cant vouch for this but I heard of people moding a jet style joystick to replace the shifter. I recomend that you just look around in people's profiles for pics to give ya some inspiration, you can start with mine if you like

I always loved mech games...Armored Core for the win..

Anyway...I would go with a slightly darker trim color to replace the pieces that come in brushed aluminum or carbon fiber...you know what I mean?

Prob a dark grey. Dark Green or Dark red...depending on your cars exterior coler and interior color.

Switch out you stock components led's with greens....that'd be cool and fit the theme.

-Brian!

GOOD LUCK

Cool idea.
One thing that cockpits have is lots of displays or information. GPS, Scanguage, maybe a thermometer(s). And communications equipment... Sat-radio, bluetooth hands-free set (try Parrot) and maybe even a CB.
You could also do a back-up camera (people have replaced their rear-wiper with one) or a car-puter.

There actually is a "How To" for an automatic, but for the life of me I can't find it. If you fallow these instructions for the manual it should give you enough info to get started. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=38358

I'll post the "How To" if I ever come by it again.

Add one more to the ideas list, although this might take a lot more effort.

That should get you started.
All those parts are the same between the xB and the xA.

Some other ideas:

Color is definitely an easy way to get more of a cockpit feel. Mechs are usually in some camo theme. Greens in the interior would help.
Also a diamond plate footwell.
There was a guy that had cut his steering wheel. Did you guys see that recent video of that race with the bike?
It would be neat if there was some way to put in some type of HUD, like some of the high end cars, for displaying the MPH.
You may want to look at some of the Mech games screen shots on the Net to get some ideas. Or more 'down-to-earth," take a look at some military vehicle interiors.

SanchezHacker, I'll be laughing over that pic for a looong time!

This is one of the most original topics I've seen on SL lately.

Lets keep it going w/ more good ideas!

The diamond-plate mats would be great. Some seatcovers might help too. convert the seating into heating/message seats and you've got another reason to mount a switch somewhere.

You could put in an aftermarket rear view mirror w/ either a hidden LCD or just the compass/temp readouts w/ map lights and garage openers. There is a company that makes some cool ones but I can't recall the name.

Maybe a roll-cage, 5-point harnesses, and fire extinguishers?
