Default Midlevel Deck and Alarm or Higher End Deck and No Alarm?????

Ok guys and gals I need some opinions. I am horrible at making decisions so I need some help from everyone. I am trying to decide on wether or not to get a higher end Alpine deck or get a more mid road Alpine deck and then get an alarm also. I have about $450 to spend and can't decide what to do.

Here is the Alpine 9827(18w x 4 RMS) that I can get for $250 at local install shop and then I can get good alarm installed for $200 so for the $450 I would get ok deck and ok alarm.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-uVJq0p7...&avf=N&search=

Here is the higher end Alpine deck 9833(26w x 4 RMS). This is a much better deck with more power and tons more options.

Now I would like to say that I am noting going to add amps down the road or expand much at all. I do have some Alpine coax speakers that I am going to replace the factory ones with. They handle about 25w RMS.

So there is the info. Can I get some opinions, I am going to decide tommorow, so let me know.

Thanks.

Get the alarm then get the Head Unit. Either way I think I would be ____ed if someone stole my HU. I would be ____ed if someone stole my stock HU. I think security should be priority one when infact it is to often the last thing people install. (Im even at fault for doing this)

So you are saying go with the mid level deck and the alarm??? I can't afford to get high level deck and alarm, so that is why I am asking, which would be better. Mid level deck AND alarm, or just High Level Deck and NO alarm. Let me know everyone!!!

The stock HU is pretty decent. Unless you are getting a feature that doesn't exist on the stock unit, it's not really worth replacing unless you are going high end. That said, getting a high end system with no security is not a good idea at all. What I would do is keep your stock HU, hook up some decent speakers (sounds like you already got them) and get the security system. Then, with the $200 you have left get a powered sub like the Bazooka tube to fill in the bass. Bazooka has a new one coming out for $220 that is 10" and is powered by 100 watts. Not going to blow the doors off, but will definitely give you more complete sound. Also, it is easy to hook up and can be easily removed (BTW: don't get the scion one). I'm no expert on these things, but that is what I would do with the $ you got. Just my 2c.

Thanks for the response. I reason I want a new deck is a little more power to the speakers, more ability to change things and I guess it just looks a lot better also. I can get a fairly nice alarm for $200 installed and a good level Alpine deck for $250, I like the higher end deck but it is probably a lot more than I need so I thought I could get less of a deck and get an alarm also and take care of both things I want. Just can't decide what is better. Also don't want sub, like the room in my xB and folding seats down so going to pass on sub.

My point was to get a security system first before worrying about a head unit or anything else. Security should be priority #1. Then save up your money a little longer and get a nice head unit.

My other point was im guessing if you get a $250 head unit or a $500 head unit stolen. Your going to be ____ed either way. So take your money and get a alarm.

If your real intent on doing away with the head unit right away get the alarm and cheaper head unit. atleast you have some security on your car.

I see what you are saying about security and that is what I was thinking. I can get a good alarm for $200 or so installed and then get a deck for about $250 that will give me the features I want also. The thing is though I don't know how much the alarm is a help. I have very dark tinted windows so you can't see in and I very rarely ever leave my car alone. For that reason I think it may be better to get the better deck. See I just can't decide but I know I can't afford both, $450 is all the budget I have for major mods for over a year or two(Have a baby to save for, so that is why I have to decide as can't afford more).

Why dont you forget about the baby and get some rims

In all seriousness I would just get the alarm and the mid-grade HU, alarm is really what protects your car and everything in it so I always say thats a first..

I dont know if you live near a best buy but they have a decent viper alarm for $237 installed and I have alway had awesome luck with viper for some reason..

That was pretty funny. Anyway I agree if you must have a new HU get the cheaper one and an alarm.

Ya.....The F*#&king hilarious, sorry I want to have a baby with my wife. Anyway I have the 19" TRD rims also so I don't need them.

On another note thanks for those that had something good to say. I am going with the head unit and get an alarm next year if at all.

you could get I totally wicked alarm with remote start and the whole shabang boing from scionspecialtiesvegas for $199 and get a kick but headunit from ebay. Of course you will be installing it yourself but you get better product for less money and take pride in knowing you did it yourself.

I would love to do that but I have no idea how to install an alarm. I am going to put the HU in myself but alarms just scare me, I have no idea how to do that. I am going to look into things today and see what I can get. Thanks for those that helped.
