Here's my Liftgate. I cut plexiglas to replace the trim piece and mounted lights behind it. It's still a work in progress, trying to figure out the best way to finish it:

The nice part is that when you open the liftgate, the lights shine down all around the back. When it's closed they shine all over the inside. It is lined up now so it makes a big X on the roof.

one way to finish it would be to use that window perf. vinyl ... that way it would look like a solid color and hide all the mechanical and the tubes .. but when ya flip the lights on you get a lot of shine-thru ... dunno if it's your style .. just my .02
btw .. nice job

I don't generally run with all of them on, especially the liftgate cuz it shines forward and is pretty bright. That's also why I haven't finalized the wiring. I want to be able to choose various levels of lights without being all on or all off, etc.
It's pretty fun tho, when someones already looking at the Box, to hit the lights and watch them go
. Mostly I get the
from my wife...
I agree about keeping the light source hidden as much as possible. I tried a piece of vinyl over it with slots cut for the lights but it looked awful and I had to peel it off. I priced a piece of smoked plexiglas at TAP, but the $$ and the thought of having to cut another one made me hesitate. I'm liking the idea of the perf window tint, in fact I may have to make a quick run to Walmart... Hmmm, How torn up did I leave the box?
I'm trying to get the building maint. guys to hook me up with a tip switch so they could come on whenever you open the liftgate. May have to just add a pushbutton type.

check with a few caraudio shops they might have one and if they do they might just give them away i havent installed one in a long time so the shop i used to work at had a few laying around
thats the easy-st way to get it working just make sure when you wire it up wire it for ground and use a relay for the high current (amps) to run all those lights and put a fuse on it
