Default Motorize Your tC's Stereo Cover!

I just saw this today. I have no connection with the company that makes this, it just looks really cool and I plan on ordering the kit soon. They have full installation instructions on their site. It seems like it takes some time to install, but it doesn't look incredibly difficult.

Looks awesome. I think it should have done that in the first place... but I don't know about the starting bid of $100.

It doesn't look like there's a way to open and close that cover unless your turning the engine on and off. What if you want to close it while your engine is running? Or open it when your car is off?

And it takes "3 to 4 hours" for installation..

That is sooo European! Or like something you'd see on Pimp My Ride. I think Audi runs something like that in their A6.
Me likey.

Ya, there is an override switch you can install on your driver's left panel. It's optional - you don't have to put it there - but I think it would probably be used at some point.

The switch lets you close it or open it whenever you want.

I thought $100 was a bit steep at first, but when I read through the installation instructions, I could see that quite a bit of R&D has gone into the kit. It's not just a motor and a switch, it has a circuit board and is adjustable so it always opens and closes properly. It's something that a technically skilled person could do without the kit, but it would take many hours to make everything work properly. I'd rather spend an afternoon installing the kit than a week trying to come up with something like it.

Gotta add that to the list........although it's kind of disconcerting how their warranty is only good for 60 days.

Just when I thought I couldn't buy anything else for my tC, someone has to come along and make me fall off the wagon! I guess there is no such thing as enough accessories.

It looks like a really innovative mechanism, and it appears to have been researched and developed pretty well, but I think I will wait until a few "mules" buy and install them and use them for a period of time. I would hate to go through all that trouble to have it break down and have to undo all that installation.

Very cool invention.
