i mounted my crossovers behind the mid panel. i didnt want to mount in the doors because i dont want to rip out the plastic insullation. i used velcro to mount them. sounds like its kind of weak, but i had a hard time pulling the crossovers out after mounting them. velcro is the way to go.

no pic of that exactly

But, I ended up mounting my xovers in the doors themselves, but on the inside wall of the door (meaning the piece of metal closest to the drivers/passengers legs). It did take some time to find a good spot as there weren't a lot of choices so I can understand why you are checking innto it. Luckily for me, the crossovers allowed the speaker connections to actually disconnect from the xover unit so I could connect all the wires (or disconnect if need be) while the xover was still mounted. Hope that makes sense, if not let me know.

GL,

Mine are mbquart which seem to all come with shoebox size crossovers. I just cut into the foam behind the door panel with a razor blade, for a perfect fit speaker terminals facing up. No pics because I'm not taking my door panels off, but it seemed logical and easy to me. I kinda shrink wrapped them onto the foam just in case water somehow makes it inside that panel which I doubt, but you never know I guess.

Your best bet is to take off your door pannel and see where it can fit ... all crossovers are different sizes and where one person put there, yours might not fit ... Just make sure its secure where ever you put it ... ALSO make sure its out of the way of the window ... When placing the crossover I would do it with the window rolled down so you know where you can go and where you cant go ...

Do not put your crossover inside the body of the door. Water gets down in there and will cause you problems. I normally put my crossovers behind the kick panels in the car. That way they are inside safe from the elements and it's easier to get to if you need to make adjustments or troubleshoot. If you are positive you want them in the door, make sure you find a spot on the inner wall of the door behind the interior panel so it will not be exposed to moisture. Look for a deep spot in the interior door panel that is big enough for the crossover, usually just under the armrest is open. Then mount the crossover in the corresponding spot on the door. Here's a pic of my xB door. The arrow points to the spot (that has metal) under where the armrest of the door panel is that might be a good mounting location becuase it's a hollow area. Also, as stated above, you may need to cut away some foam to get a good fit.
