Well I burned one cd with about 10 mp3s on it at a freinds house and it worked fine, go home to burn about 7 full albums in aboue 10 folders burn it and bring it out to the car and it just plays 1-2 seconds of a song and then starts scanning the cd till it finds another 1-2 seconds and so on and so on.

My question is why is this not working, one reason I think it could be is my freind was using Nero and burned it at a slower speed like 2x and I am using windows xp built in burn function at 48x, do I need to drop the cash on a copy of nero and burn at a slower speed or could there be something else I am doing wrong?

 

did u finalize the cd, or did u leave it open for other burns... some players are picky i always finalize and have never had probs

 

True...
Sounds like you have your program set up to leave the CD open to burn more songs later.
Most MP3 players need you to "Close" the cd before it will track and play the songs correctly.
Whatever program you are using to burn,make sure you just burn a data CD.
Not an MP3 audio CD.
See if that works.

 

MP3 car players are very picky. In order to make sure it works.. make sure your using a MUSIC CD-R, not just a regular cd-r disc. And make an audio compilation not a data cd. It works.

 

i get mixed results. Most cds I burn will have one or two folders that won't play, the CD player can't even read them and gets an error. But it's not always the same folder. I've tried as data and as MP3.

Slower burn speeds do help, I think the new Winamp has a burner interface that might work... Haven't been able to check it out yet.

 

In my XB, i have no problems with regular cd-r disc, burned as a data cd. just an fyi... :twisted:

 

Mode 1 Layer 2 ISOs (no multisession..and closed) work for me...

 

I use multisession discs and they work fine for me.

 

I had a problem with my mp3 cd's in my alpine 6 disc changer. I found out that the file name can only contain one "." in it. That means that the file Methvs.Chef.mp3 won't work, but MethvsChef.mp3 would work. Maybe that'll help.

As far as media, I've used both data and music cd-r and they both work the same. I don't really know what the differences are anyways.

Did you know that there is NO DIFFERENCE between the two - just when you buy "music" cd-r's you're paying a small fee in music royalty rights to the RIAA (seriously), and whatever markup the manufacturer wants you to pay.

Also, a data CD is a data CD, no matter what you want to call it (audio compilation ).

 

hey guys, forgot to follow up with this thread but what the problem was is that the mp3s themselves as they were showing the corect ize when I burned but were actually only a couple k or zero so that explains the problem

All other mp3s now work fine and thanks for the heads up on the 'music' cdrs I had no clue.

 

I often run into a folder or two out of 10-11 that won't play. It tries to detect the track, the track flashes and flashes then goes blank then flashes again, etc. If I can FFWD when its flashing it'll skip to the next folder. If I don't catch it in time I get a disc error and have to eject and stick it back in. I can't seem to pinpoint what causes it. It's never the same folder #s or same tracks. I've tried keeping it under 640MB jic.

The last time I tried using a CD-RW figuring I could rewrite it if it had the same problem. It worked perfectly on the first burn. I may just be trippin', but the sound seems better too.Now I'm wondering if its the cheapass CD-R s I usually buy. I heard people talk of differences lately when it didn't seem to matter before...
