mp3 question
Well My dad ordered my scion about 2 weeks ago now and it should be 3 more weeks till it comes in from japan (cant wait!!). ANd i was just wondering, i got the standard radio and the dealer guy told me it could play mp3s. does that mean i can put mp3s on a disk and the cd player could read them??? THat way i could fit like 100 songs on a disc and it would be more of a data cd then an audio. But yeah is it true??? Thanks in advance!
Yes, when I first got in my tC at dealer I saw the MP3 logo and was elated. Just remember to make folders with about 15-20 songs in each when burning, otherwise you'll be pushing the 'next' button like a million times to get to that perfect track.
Oh i see. THanks a lot man. Cant wait for my tc to come in. O yeah i decided to get the Flint Mica instead of the Black Sand Pearl since i got the colors mixed up, but thanks to u guys it prevented me from screwing up. ty errbody

Hi,
my MP3 CD's hold about 155 songs. Of course it depends what rate you rip the MP3 at; I typically used 192 Kbps for mine. Higher bitrates, yield larger files & better sound qualities.
Now whether you can personally hear the differences some folks say they can hear is up to your ears. I find 192 Kbps bit rate perfectly fine for my needs.
I barely use the FM radio now since I keep an MP3 disc in at all times.

Definitely nothing wrong with setting the bitrate to what you are happy with, but personally I like the flexibilty of Variable Bit Rates so that I get the best quality sound while still keeping files small. Plenty of people are quite comfortable with 128 bit quality, but I use the same mp3's for my car and my home theater, so I needed a bit more SQ than what 128 offers.
I have read several different viewpoints on this, but I find this article very useful:

If you are interested in bitrates, this is useful:

have fun,
