My cigarette lighter is reversed polarity. Is anybody elses?
Hi there,
I have a 2004 xB, and I was just about to mod my cigarette lighter to be always-on. However, checking carefully, I found that my stock, never modified, cigarette lighter has the positive on the OUTSIDE/SHELL, and negative on the tip!
Can somebody else with a 2004 xB check it with a volt meter and see if I'm crazy or what?
On the actual back of the lighter, the 2 wires are:
black with white stripe: +12V -> wide spade connector -> shell
white with black stripe: GND -> narrow spade connector -> tip (and also tied to GND all over the place).
i verified this both with a ohm meter (checking conductivity to ground), and with a volt meter (with the car turned on).
I can't believe it, so I really want somebody else to check my work.
Thanks,
-Caleb
