Default neat little trick for kenwood ddx owners

If your computer happens to have a dvd burner, you can load all your mp3's onto a couple dvd's only thing is there's a 255 track limit per folder.
on my first try i got roughly 900 songs onto a single disc, with room to spare.
works like a charm, been driving now for approx 2 weeks without ever having to change the disc.

I just tried this too. But since there is a 225 track folder limit can you have any number of folders?

BTW I use Nero 6 and it has an option to burn a DVD/MP3 disc, so that's what I did and I burned at low speed (4X).

Well it worked for me again!! This time I burned a disc at 4X with Nero 6 with the DVD/MP3 option and the disc had 31 folders. That's way more than 900 songs! Cause most of those folders had more than 40 or 50 + songs in each of them. The disc was right at 4GB's. And could have held more! No more crappy 700MB CD's for me!! I'm talking 4.7 GB's of songs on one disc! I may go buy some dual layer discs and see if they might work too.

That is strange isn't it!!?? I don't know why they didn't mention it at all. I've already burned around 4 or 5 DVDs now. Before this I was looking into buying the Kenwood Music Keg to go with my 7015, but there isn't any point now! I can burn about 4 or 5 DVDs and have the same amount that thing will hold!

I also told some friends of mine about this trick that had Pioneer DVD/screens. They all tried it on those and nothing worked at all! I also tried one of my burned discs in there's and it still didn't work on the Pioneer HU's. A Pioneer rep told me a while back that a DVD/MP3 HU would ruin the CD Changer market. But I guess they'd better get to making a HU that'll play these DVD/MP3's!!

all of you tC ownerrs, does the install work pretty simply, I would think there would be an issue with the cover closing, and the face plate coming down to load dvd's, can someone shed some light before I drop 600 bones.
thanks, J

the install goes fine using the stock brackets but you need to drill the holes back like 4/10ths of an inch to make it close. the face of the unit dosen't go any farther down than the unit sits normally so it's fine that the unit is sunk into the mounting location.

Does anybody know if you could do this with the Alpine IVA-D300? I tried it once but it did not work. Maybe something I did wrong?
