It's hard to tell from the pics but those things look flimsy. It's hard enough getting good sound from door speakers without using something looking like that. I wouldn't use those.

Here's the template I cut.

Yeah I realize that this is the way to go. by the way, I know there is another thread on your speedo covers so I checked it out and your website HOLY MO FO them thangs rock out. I have two nautical stars tattooed on my back I will get with you soon via email about running one of those for me. b.o.p. or maybe the lava color. thinking of using a lava colored pin stripe or graphic on exterior. We will certainly talk later . Gotta crawl in the bed of my boring hotel room now. 5:30 comes early and the railroad wants to teach me how to run a train.... suckers , no really I love my job but a 4 weeks away from the house with a four hr. commute sucks. I will talk to you guys later. I think my meter says I have wasted around four or five days away on this site in about two weeks....

Congrats on the new Salsa!

Heres my xB comp install:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...789&highlight=

You can see some of whats behind the panels. You may/may not need 2 layers of 3/4" MDF. Depends on your speaker depth. Mine are 2.8", needed 2 layers for 1/4"~3/8" clearance to glass.

Let me know if you want the templates!

I think mine are like 2.6 inches deep. I wanna do this in way that the door panels sray un hacked and stock looking if possible.. is that gonna happen or are 6.5" speakers a permanent mod? I still have to purchase the 6.5" set so this would ( kinda ) affect my purchase choice. and yes templates would be cool. thanks

^^ NO! NO hacky the door panel! Arrghh!

Completely stock look. The ring removed is inside the door panel. And thats with the 2x 3/4" MDF spacers.

Also, its a non destructive install. If, for some reason (selling?) you wanted to replace the stock stuff, its a no brainer. No cut harnesses, no jacked panels,

PM your email addy for spacer templates. Know that these will work with eDi 6000s/6500s @ 6-1/2" nominal x 2.8" deep. Make adjustments to depth and diameter based on your final speaker choice.
