Default NEW! spare tire sub now fits under stock covers xb/xa !!!!

I just got done putting in my second version of the spare tire mounted sub. It fits under the stock covers. I did take the lug wrench off the cover cause it rattled. All in all it sounds really good, but it does not go super low due to the small aire space. Bass boost and stuff like that helps though. Really tight bass though, and no loss spase or loss of spare, and totaly sock look.

here are some pics of it and the building process.

this is the wheels being covered in duct tape to use as a mold

Here is the ring that sits in the wheel. I staple the fiberglass to it, then nail the top to it as well

this shows the fiberglass attached to the ring. Before i put in resin, i cover the wheel wiht cooking preay to kep it from sticking. I thes brush on the resin, soaking the glass cloth. It helps to thin it out with asetone. Next i put in 2 more layers of fiberglass matting. I dont like matting that much, but its what i had, and it gets the walls thicker faster. After that i let it dry for an hout before popping it out of the wheel

i forget pictures of the rest. Basically i cut out about a 16.5" circle, with a 10.5" circle in the middle out of 1/2" mdf. Next i attach a 12" circle with a prper sub cutout size in the middle. I use wood glue and nails. This makes the top and recesses the sub down. Doig this i have a mounting depth of almost 4". TO attach the top to the bowl, i cover the top of the bowl with fiberglass resin gel, then put the top down, and while holdin down, I nail it all together. Then just cover with carpet and put in the speaker wire.

here is pics of the hatch wand what you have to do o the foam.

here is a pic of the spare upside down

here are some pics of the finished sub

her is a pic of oit in place

here it is with the covers on

if anyone wants in on the alpha testing of these, the first 5 i sell will go for 50$, after that about 75$-80. I might ofer them with subs if wanted.

PM me for any questions

well, after playing with this set up, i discovered it actually sounds better upside down. SO , i mya produce one wiht little feet to hold it up off the floor.

Also, i might try one with a 8" pioneer preier flat sub, as they only need .25 cubic feet and this has .3, so i think it sould sound prety good

i rebuilt a whole new enclosure on saturday. This is a whole new item. It sounds great under the cover, and actually placing it and the spare in thier normal positio, with the sub facing down provides more low end.

this is the item i will use to make a mold for future ones. This one may be up for sale soon with sub, as i want to try other brands of speakers to see how well they fit as well

WEll, i have one person interested in this. Anyone want to get in on this weekends production run? I believe i will be changing this to a down firing set up, very similar to some of the JL stealth boxes. even with the covers off, there will be signs that a sub is installed.

Man I want one of those. I have the bazooka, but I want more cargo room. I know nothing how to wire that though. I'd buy one in a heart beat.

i could do 2 10" under the covers, but that would be pretty easy using only mdf though

for wiring, itr really easy. I am usuing a mtx tc300.1 amp w/ high lever inputs, so it turns or without a remove wire. It also has a remote bass ****. I will actually be selling this to replace with a 5 channel amp. I also might sell the box i am using w/ sub as well, so contact me if interested. I am trying to buy ohter subs to see what fits and sounds best.

well, i just cast my mold fo rmy box. It involved plaster of paris, spary foam, and ill get some bondo and lots for clear coat tomorrow to prevent sticking. With this i plan to try to have the first 5 boxes ready to go out this week end. Again, these first boxes will go out for 50$, or you can have the one I am using w/ a sq10 for $100 plus shipping
