Default New xB owner : discovered an issue (for me at least)

I have had my white xB for 3 weeks now and am noticing something that is very disturbing; the plastic in this car is amazingly easily scratched.

Please tell me I am not the only one that has noticed this. I can leave a lasting noticeable scratch with my fingernail on the glovebox door.

Any ideas on how to remedy this ?

I love the car (31mpg city so far) and I really like the looks, but that plastic is going to drive me batty.

I scratched the wheel well hump the first week I had it. I threw some stuff in the back and it shifted while I was driving. The scratches may just be more noticeable because the plastic is dark? My last few vehicles had light gray interior plastic and they didn't show so much.

you could do some interior customizing. Painting the interior plastic pieces would add some durablility if done right, if you paint it to match the exterior, it would look nice too... imo.

Automotive plastics generally harden with age, becoming more brittle in the process. I'm sure it follows some kind of a curve.

The plastic in my previous ride, an ancient Volvo, was as hard as granite, and pretty brittle, too... so be careful what you wish for, you just might get it, if you keep your scion long enough...
