i am not a big fan of the dots on the 33 but you can change the color of the buttons and that i love, i would give it a couple more weeks and see what else new is coming out, it is becoming that time of year again, i know pioneer has all of there new line out so alpine should not be far behind
You should get the cheapest one, the 9830. The high end 9833 requires a connection to the battery because it has "V-Drive" a more powerful internal amp. Assuming that you'll get yourself a sound system, you won't even need to use that internal amp. Moreover, the only difference from the 9830-9833 besides power then is Bass Engine PRO, one step above Plus.
I think you should stay away from the 9851, it has 2V preamps and has only bass engine regular. I think if you want to create a sound system, the features of the 9833 won't be necessary. But if you're just going to have a HU in your system then take it.
My choice: 9820.

once i have the money again i will definitly go for the alpine cda-9855 its similar to the cda-9835 but a little more refined esp. for sirius sat radio and just plain looks nice. i'd better stop drooling now. its not up on alpine's website but you can check out the specs on here ==> http://www.crutchfield.com/S-KaDl0qQ...0&I=500CDA9855

also i got spoiled with the biolite display on them...
so i say save your $$$ and go grab this one.

well big question is.. are you going to use the internal amp? if you are.. go with the 9833.. but the new amps are less. 18 X 4 but they are CEA compliant in their new testing.. so really the old amps at 23 rms are now 18 because it's full bandwidth power.. just a thought that the 26 w rms 9833 amp was not testing with the CEA method.. so it might not be the same wattage.. just a thought..

Eclipse makes good decks too but for alot more money. I've owned numerous Alpine decks in the 90s and I currently own one and there just as good as ever.
