Default A pillars anyone?

Ok so when I first got my XB over a year ago i decided to put tweeters in my A pillars. They sounded great but I wanted to make it a little more smooth looking so just recently I built them into the sail panels. I went to the dealership today to order new A pillars and about sh@t when they gave me the price. $77 each on these things! The parts for my friends A4 are cheaper. I dont understand how they can charge so much for a piece of plastic that costs well under $2 to mass produce. I told them they could keep the parts for that price. Anyone know of a wrecked XB near them with good A pillars or anyone willing to trade there stock ones for a set with Elevation Audio Concert series tweeters in them? Let me know.
Thanks
Tim

Do a search for salvage yards:
http://car-part.com/

You have to remember that there is a cost for storing and maintaining those "cheap" parts.

No luck on the salvage yard search as far as whats listed on the net.

True but I bought the same A pillars for my honda at $16 each. I'm sure it doesnt cost toyota anymore for a part to sit in the warehouse then it does for honda. The entire rear bumper for my scion was $120. I can't justify $144 for a couple interior parts. I'll fill the holes and rewrap the pillars in vinyl first.

Maybe try another part on the search and see if you can locate a wreck--then call the yard to see if they have the parts. A rewrap might not be a bad idea..............

I'd find some plugs for the holes, maybe at a hardware store, and wrap em with ultrasuede...

I am thinking of a similar solution and what I think I am going to do is to mask the panels with 3M painters tape (the blue stuff) and use hot glue to stretch some thin fabric to the shape and lay fiberglass resin on it. After that I plan to use dual MDF rings to mount the tweeter ( the one nearer the car is in case I ever change my mind I can bolt another ring to it and the second is to mount the tweeter). I will then wrap the structure with more of the stretch fabric and trim it to fit the fiberglass I just layed and resin the structure. Then I'll remove the whole thing along with the masking tape and wrap with vinyl or paint. Finally, I'll route the wire under the panel and use 3M double-sided foam tape to mount it. No mods to the vehicle and it should work great. Mark
