Default Pioneer AVIC-N1 Installed Today!

I am blown away by this system. I had them put in the Microphone for voice control of AV and NAV. Very cool system. I am even pleased with how it sounds using the stock xB speakers.

I am having them put the same system in the Mini Cooper tomorrow.

Does that thing play DVD movies while you're driving? I thought i read somewhere that it will only play the audio once the car is moving. That might have been on another unit though...

Default Movie While Driving?

The parking Brake must be set in order to view a DVD on the integrated display. At least that is the way it must be installed in California.

The unit will play video on additional screens that are mounted behind the drivers seat while still allowing NAV and other finctions on the integrated display.

I hope this answers your question.

I have the same unit that I installed myself and all you have to do is ground the green wire and it will play movies with no problems at all.

Default add switch

add a switch to the green wire on coming from the head unit and the other end to ground that way if you get pulled over all you have to do is flick the switch and it will say for your safety images cannot be displayed while driving.

does the AVIC-N1 have the noticeable (horrible) fan hum that I've heard just about everyone say drives them crazy? I am really looking into getting this system but I really, really don't want to have to deal with something like that. If it's true, guess I'll have to fall back on the more expensive and not-so-well rounded Eclipse system.

Yeah mine has the fan noise as well, but I usually have the music up enough to cover the humming. I can deal with the noise considering all the features this thing has and the price I got it at.

It's because you got that sub turned up loud isn't it? hahaha j/k man Really? I thought these were the popular ones that everyone wants. I was almost about to get one too but I thought it might block the gauge cluster of the xB.

i saw a pic on a different thread cause i was concerned with it blocking the gauge cluster as well..and it seems as if there was no problems with this unit in the xB from that picture.
