Default Question about Aftrmrkt HU.

Hi! Which Pioneer HU can be used in my '06Xb that can be integrated with the steering wheel controls??

My OEM has an Ipod Integration, Can i used the OEM Ipod integration to an aftermarket HU??

If Pioneer does no have it, Does any Alpine HU can be integrated with the Steering wheel controls?

Last question: which is the nicest, install kit from a double din to a singl din HU? Are there other choice than crutchfield?

Many Thanks!!! Your answers will greatly help me in my project and save me money in the long run.

1. Any with a wire remote input or IR remote. You will need a PAC SWI adapter.

2. Not with out rewiring so .. No

3. See 1.

4. Metra. Circuit City, Best Buy, local shops, online.

no aftermarket pioneer HU i know works with the stock controls without a separate adapter like mentioned above.

the eclipse AVNs will work without an adapter as the plugs are pretty much the same... (no extra wiring harness needed either)

as far as the ipod? don't know without alot of rewiring.... and metra has good dash kits.

Default follow up. . . . .

Follow up question.

It has been asked already but. . . . .

is there a specific wire to connect the remote of the Amp so it turns on together with the OEM radio when switch on?

Thanks!!

i think the only wire you can grab is the acc wire that goes to the radio which gets turned on when the key is turned. (not when the radio is on)

haven't seen it done otherwise... but many have installed a switch that i've seen so you can turn off your amp when the car is running and the radio isn't on.

Biggest problem with a switch is remembering to turn it off...

Gray wire on the Blue harness is ACC. This will turn the amp on and off with the key. Other than that, there is also a Black/Red wire that leads to the antenna amplifier, which could also be used, but I am not sure about the amperage on this wire. The safest choice would be the Gray wire.

Hmmmm. . . .. . . Apprecciate the replies.

I think it will be better to just invest in an aftrmrket headunit.

i just feel bad about the ipod option i got at the dealer. Oh well. we wil see.

thanks again.

If you want to keep the ipod integration and steer wheel controls you can try an '08 premium HU. It's pretty much an aftermarket HU in OEM form
