question about RS3 setup
I read in one thread that the 2 screens are fed by a Y splitter. So theoretically you can add another Y and go where you want.
However, you will have to find a way to power the device separately I would think. However, I have not done this to mine so i'm not sure. I would like to add a screen in the front as well tho. It sucks when people won't ride in the front cause they wanna watch a DVD and you have to drive and can't see a darn thing! Plus it's also hard to control the player like that!

I saw a photo on here that a guy had a screen put in the area above the glove box next to the RS 3.0 emblem, It t was like a little wide screen. I emaied him to ask where he got it done, never got a response, but it looked wicked,, Id love to do that to mine
First off I want to say i have never worked on an RS 3 xB. But has anybody pulled there's apart to see if it does actually have a Y splitter? Most factory video systems dont use the normal Yellow video plugs or red and white audio plugs, so unless somone is willing to pull there's apart or has, it may be a mystery. If the system does have a Y splitter, i would not recommend splitting it again, the more you split the signal, the more you down grade the quality of it. If you want to add a 3rd screen buy a 1 in to 3 out video amplifier, it helps keep a clean signal to all the screens, you can even buy one that has more than 3 outputs and fill the whole car with screens. Hope this helps you a little bit.
i just dealt with one last night, all you have to do is get a splitter/signal amplifier and the rca is in the back of the deck.
If you are hooking up a sub(6hrs last night) you need to find the small 5 wire harness to connect your adjustable line output converter(turns audio from rear speakers into rca plugs for your amp)
it has a yellow(+)and black(left rear) white(+) and red(right rear) and a green/white wire(no idea) the accessory wire is the on the top of the blue harness the other harness with large pin slots. it is second from the right, use a test light and turn the car on and off and you will find it no problem.

Try http://www.norcalscion.com/
Then click the "NCS Products" tab and check out their harnesses.
Supposedly this works on the RS 3.0 Alpine HU as well.
You should have hooked your converter into the front speaker wires. Why? Because while in dual with a video playing you will get no bass from whatever is playing in the front. The rear speakers in dual are dedicated to video.

a local shop did that for him.. as for how its fed.. i'm not sure.. mostlikely a splitter/amplifier....
speaking of video splitter/amplifier.. i need one... ooooh google??!!??
Yes you must install a splitter off the back of the radio. There is only 1 video out. I don't think you would need a booster for 1 extra screen. It is annoying not being able to see the screens to access menus and such.

thanks
When you play a video and you dont want to hear the video sounds you can push the DUAL botton which will allow the rear speakers to play the DVD and the front speakers to play another input such as radio or XM. Since you hooked the converter to the rear speakers while in dual you will get sound from the dvd player and not whats being listened to up fornt whether it be radio or XM. Get it?
