Default Question about xB front speaker wiring

Okay, can someone help me out with how to install some component speakers in the xB. Main question being, Can I use the stock wiring to for the door speaker? I just don't want to have to run another wire to the door.
I'm not sure how the stock tweeter and woofer are linked together. Should I terminate the end on the dash speaker so that only power through that wire goes to the door speaker or should I just install another wire to the door.

How are you guys handling this situation?

Nick,I have done this on a couple of chapter members cars, for seperates I don't recommend it, get yourself a plastic wire fish and run the wires into door that way. It will sound a lot better and save yourself some headaches in the future. Thanks again for purchasing my alarm kit. Take care Bill

I agree with Bill. Run your own speaker cable. It's actually not that difficult. If you don't have a wire fish, you can take a clothes hanger and straighten it out somewhat, and tape the speaker wire to it and run it through the door. You may want to add some lubricant to the end of the wire so it will go through easier. Shouldn't take you that long and the dash speaker wiring is very easy to replace. Maybe 1-2 hr job and well worth the time! If i recall correctly, the door and dash speaker stock wiring terminate into each other so if you are going to run a component set, you will need to run some additional wiring anyway. However, I'm not sure on this..its been a good while since I replaced the speakers.

Good luck,

here's an update. I got all the speakers installed but I am still working on a good location to mount my 1" tweeters. I'd like to go flush on the a-pillar and I am testing to see how good it sounds now but I am not noticing much of a difference. I'll say 1 think though upgrading the stereo system is a major chore as far as wiring goes but it was fun. I can't believe how awesome it sounds. I ended up fishing the wire through taped to a a straightened coat hanger as suggested. I forgot to put some lube on that thing so I was tuff but I managed. I made custom spacers from 3/4" mdf and I still have to sound deaden those doors.

Have you thought about making spacers for others and selling them? I want to upgrade my speakers and would be interested in a set of the spacers.

I just finished replacing all stock speakers and adding a sub and amp to stock XB radio. When I replaced the door speakers I noticed that when the window rolls down it was hitting the back of the new speakers, so I had to add a spacer to pull them forward away from windows (both sides). New wires throughout, stock wiring is for stock speakers. It takes some time but is worth the effort. here are some pictures of install.
