Default Question for someone who knows thier audio stuff!

Is the Bazooka Party Pack worth it? 2x 10" subs, 1 amp, and box for $410 (includes install)

Is that a pretty good deal? I am still running the old Pioneer 6disc changer but it seems like a good deal compared to the little 8" bazzoka tube...

Thanks for your help.

Best buy ____ed me off. I really wanted a roof mounted DVD player and they list a pioneer Dual 10" box with amp but no one there would help me. And our best buy has some really bad reviews when it comes to instalation. Thanks though Cmec

I wouldn't suggest Circuit City or Best Buy. Check out good car audio shops in your area.

And just why not? It is not bad store, just bad installers. Ask Proshop, or ViolentB

For the honest and I mean gods honest truth.... NO.
For someone that has been working with car audio selling and installing for the last 2 years, I will NOT recommend that. I have put in into beater cars and SUV for people looking for some cheap and I mean cheap bass, but thats it.

Do the math. A decent dual 10" box will run you RETAIL at $90. A Semi Decent kicker 200x2 will cost $160. So that would leave the subs to be $80 each.

If you are gonan spend that kinda money, go with the Kicker brand. Even the Comp series will sound a hell of a lot better. Subs will cost ya $90 a piece and sounds least a little better then the BAZPP.

Just my $.02 - don't flame.

I have owned a car audio/video shop for the last 7 years. I also do not recommend getting cheap subs. If you are going to spend any money, you might as well spend a few dollars extra and get a decent sub.

Regarding Circuit City and Best Buy, I don't like to talk trash on my competition. They do have some inexperienced installers, and they have experienced installers. Just talk to them, and find out what they know.

I personally would never take the chance at BB or CC with any installation...

check out www.edesignaudio.com for some excellent products at really good prices...

no matter where you go it will be hit or miss. do you think Unique Autosport has perfect installs 100% of the time? It comes down to who is working on your car. Circuit and Best have some great installers, they also have some not-so-great installers.

as for the Bazooka party pack, if you think you are getting a good deal go for it. not everyone has a couple of grand to spend to put bump in their car. You have to start somewhere. my first sub/amp combo was from the flea market.

I say go for it.

No, but do you think Unique Autosport would hire a 17y/o who claims they know what they're doing?? Like I said, I just wouldn't take the chance... If I didn't do my own work, then I'd take it to a much smaller reputable shop... at a reputable shop, there's a FAR less likely chance that any of their installers will be of the "not-so-great" kind...

you don't have to spend a grand to get good bump... at Elemental Design, you can get a dual sub + amp + box + wiring for somewhere around $400-$500... and it'll be HIGH quality product, have unlimited outstanding customer service/tech support, have a 3 year transferable warranty, and you'll get a great factory direct deal... quite honestly I really think ED has the BEST product for $$ spent... I've said that in about 1000 threads, but it's only because it's true and I like them...

Look for a a Sound Advice in your area. Lots of people rag on cheap bass and all, but look into what everyone really has in their cars. Many Scions are done cheap sometimes but everyone says not to get cheap bass. I don't understand. The Bazooka package will be ok if all you want is some decent bass in the car. Run it right and it won't go wrong. Otherwise, weigh your options and get what YOU like.

I get people in my store all the time wanting subs or speakers and amps i the car. I set them up and they go online and buy everything. It's not about how good it sounds, it's how much noise it makes.

very sad, but true... I personally hate it when people have 2 15's (or whatever) in the trunk with a stock deck and mids/highs ran from the HU... or when it's not setup properly and you get alot of distortion, but they don't know that cause they spent $1000 but don't know good, clean sound... Elemental Design has GOOD sounding, hard hitting products (given correct install/setup) at awesome prices...

Only reason I rag on the bazooka products is that you can get way better sound for a comparative price...

Well let me throw in my two cents.....I worked at Best Buy for almost a year....And let's just say they one will hire anybody to sell car audio and on top of that you get ripped HARD CORE there on the prices.....For christmas a couple years ago my mom bought my dad a Dual 2.2 inch DVD player for his truck head unit. It listed at $520.........My price for it was........$200...I know they sell Dual 10' subs for like $110, employee price $20.....So not that they are doing anything wrong because lets face it...This is simply business....I myself would go to a local car audio shop.....

Remember just my two cents

True, not many people are audiophiles, and a lot of people haven't really experienced good clean sound.

Its like anything else though. Some people haven't seen true HDTV for example, and will spend all kinds of money on lesser quality - not that its bad, but its not the best.

I checked the local audio shops, and that was where i found the bazooka setup. One of them had a 8" kicker with box and amp for $549.

I am not looking for something that is going to rattle my car to pieces.. I am looking more for something that will give me good clean bass with the factory speakers...

Thanks for all the help so far though.

Elemental Design
11Ov.2 = $120 + shipping
Nine.2 amp = $215 shipped
Enclosure + wiring = ~$150

Total: $485 which would probably still be higher (Chris could possibly get you the package deal on the amp for being a ScionLife Member) than the actual price. With this, you'd have hard poundin, very clean bass!

Or try an 11Kv2 for $65 + shipping. It should smoke an 8" Bazooka sub...especially on a mono nine.2. Go for the 11Ov if you can swing it at all. Louder, stronger sub. You'll wish you did if you didn't.

Box is $55 + shipping:

As SCI_TC_GUY said call Chris and introduce yourself. Mention ScionLife. See what he can do.

IMHO buying the bazooka from a Toyota dealer is a huge RIP!!!! Especially when Walmart has them for $100!!! Now granted the one from Walmart might need an adapter to hook in to the factory head unit??? not real sure about that. Maybe it doesn't. Hate the sound of the Bazooka anyway so probably won't find out. If you want a real nice Bass Unit look at the Bob Carver subs. Do a google on Bob Carver speakers and you'll find them. For about the same price you'll get a REAL kick ___ bass driver with amp!!! Hope this helps.

Oops well... umm... the Bob Carver sub unit will require a high amperage inverter to run correctly using the 12V in a car. Forgot about that one teensy detail. But if you wanted to go to the trouble to sort that out it would be awesome.

SCI_TC_GUY and tanakasan are on the right track, but I will throw my 2 cents in as well.

Get in on the group buy from Elemental Designs and pick up an 11Kv.2 for $65

http://www.edesignaudio.com/groupbuy.php

Then add a NINe.2 to power it for $175 using the coupon code "eDB92".

That puts you at $240 and needing an enclosure.

You can get an awesome under seat enclosure that is perfect for that subwoofer for $105 shipped from Elegonics / Quarter Wave Designs. http://www.elegonics.com/QD_XB_DF.html

That leaves you at $345 needing a way to connect it all to your stock system. You can get an LOC, in-line Electronic Bass Controller and all the wiring you need for under $100. In the end you will be will under the $500 mark with a system that will absolutely blow away anything you could have gotten from a chain store. And you would be hard pressed to find anything as good from a local stereo shop for the price.

Yeah, the dealer tube is a rip. They are ok, at best. The TC Bazooka enclosure at least is a custom fit unit.

Have you looked into the Scosche enclosure--its just a small 10" but is stealth. There is also a box on Ebay, that goes in the same place, carpet color don't match but, they'll cut the hole for a 8 10 or 12.

Chris.
