does anyone else's cover for over the radio make litle squeeking noises when it starts to get a little bumpy in the road?.....im sure its minor....sound like it needs to be lubed up or somthin....just wonderin if any one else's does this....

 

i noticed that recently too. it doesn't sqeak when it's closed, only open

 

A ton of posts and a few fixes on here for it. Mine just stopped on its own after a coupld thousand miles.

I put an alpine head unit in my car this weekend, after the install i noticed the front cover was squeaking but i fixed the problem, here is what i did...

1. Remove the dash cover surrounding the radio (first you have to pop off the trim around your shifter, then the trim around the head unit)

2. Once you have disconnected the climate control panel pull the trim assembly out

3. there are 4 screws holding in the sliding radio cover, remove those.

4. after the radio cover is removed, look towards the top under the A/C vents, there are 3 prongs that help hold the sliding radio cover in place. I surrounded mine with some very thin (1/8" thick) adhesive weather stripping. I doubled it up and put everything back together, no more squeaking..... i hope this helps some of your problems.
