Default radio reception?

hello all! I recently replaced my stock hu with a pre x-plode sony, added a PG amp and some momo 6.5's. every thing works great except my radio reception. this same set up worked fine in my 95 camry. has anyone else had reception issues after upgrading? does the antenna run through glass or is it the short antenna that runs along the drivers side floor? I have turned off the amp just to make sure it wasnt the reception robber ,but the prob persisted. i pretty much get every thing 95.9 and above! does any one have a good deal on a fm booster? I have a feeling the tuner in the hu isnt quite powerfull enough to pull a signal from the short ant run. any help would be fantastic!

btw. its an XB

It's cool. I felt bad moving both... but eh.

You'll get used to the forums after a while and start to see where everything really goes.

Welcome aboard.

I've noticed that my xB with the OEM 6-disc radio gets pretty lame FM reception, period. Cables are all connected properly--I chalk it up to not having a 'real' antenna. I have a 6 year old JVC head unit in a 91 nissan sentra SE-R that gets MUCH better reception just about anywhere. Go figure.

When you put in the HU did you make sure all the wiring was connected. The XB has a built in booster and if you don't connect it you get squat.

I've been seriously thinking about either adding an XA style antenna to mine or going satellite.

chadfo, i just read somewhere else that I need to connect the power ant wires in my wiring harness. I didnt bother since there is no esternal ant, but I guess the booster needs the power! I have tomarrow off so ill give it a whirl and let ya all know! thanks!!

my power antenna is connected and i still get terrible reception. I tested the black wire that runs side by side with the antenna wire also which gets 12v with the radio on and its still terrible.

Could it be that this problem isn't just 'how things are' and more of a way to 'encourage' more people to get satellite?

My dealership provided me with an xA to drive until my xB was delivered and it seemed like it's radio got much better reception...

I am having probs with this too. I have a scosche tao2 wiring harness. I hooked up the blue wire circled in red to the ant wire on my Sont head unit. Still sux. On the scosche harness there is another blue wire circled in blue that loops around back into the harness in to another slot. Could this be my problem? The scosche blue wire and the curved wire are pluuged into the same slot. Any info helps
