re-doing the headliner...sunvisors?
okay I'm starting to formulate my plan for my interior...I've noticed a lot of peeeps have done the headliner whats the cost involved with this? I was thinking I wanted to do black suede do I just glue it on top of what I already have? should I take the headliner out to do this? I would really like a kick a$$ painting of the Green Lantern but Alex Ross, Jim Lee, and Micheal Turner just don't return my phone calls..
so I'm thinking I'll stick with the black material ....suede or faux suede...or somehitng along those lines...recommendations?
Sun Visors....I know that when I get done re-doing the interior the sunvisors, oh ____ handles, and the seatbelt hold things are really going to look out of place...
1 - recommenditions on painting them? what kind? steps involved (ie clear coating?) and 2 - how do I get the seat belt thingys off the side pillars???!!!

On the top of the seatbelt mechanism their is a cover that covers the bolt you need to take off in order to take off the whole thing... After you take off the bolt, the seat belt comes right off... I just did my headliner in black suede and it was easy as cake, just took off the mirror, sun visors, and all of the pillars, pulled on the headliner, sprayed it down with adhesive stuff, laid down the suede, and fine tuned the creases and such... Then threw it back in, replaced the seatbelts, pillars... But I left the sun visors off because they serve no purpose because of my tint... Hope that helps...
if you can be without the grab handles, the seat belt mounts, the visor mounts, the rearview mirror cover etc for about 10 days, patterntek can do them for you.
spray paint wears off under use, but the way they do it at patterntek is very durable. the grab handles are about 18 bucks each.

I've been trying to find black sunvisors, or even something that wasn't as crappy. I was going to get a pair from the tC, but I think they're a bit too small.
What about vinyl dye? Would that work?

If you want something trick and different, why not just take the visors out, glass them over, sand them smooth, and have them sprayed the same color as the exterior of the car? I am planning something similar, only my visors will house small LCDs that hook to a night-vision capable camera in the front of the xB.
That could be really cool. I want to see pics when you're done. I've never glassed anything, but I suppose, if I mess up, those visors probably aren't that expensive to replace.
'glassing is pretty simple really. If you can build the basic mold, you can stretch fabric over it, smother it in fiberglass resin, and sand away to whatever shape you choose. If you are interested in trying it, rather than taking the chance of ruining something you may want down the road, try making a cheap cutout mold in the shape of the visor, cut from some masonite or particleboard. You can trace the visor shape onto the wood, cut it out, then beat the crap out of it with all sorts of stuff without worrying about the visor itself. Wrap the cutout mold in your choice of fabric, stretch it to the desired shape, staple/glue it in place, and then smother it in a resin/hardener mix. I choose to use fleece for my fabric simply because it is thick, spongy, absorbs resin very well, and is flexible without tearing. It does require a little more sanding than other fabrics, but I still use it out of habit. Once it dries, you can add additional shapes, designs, sand it to the desired finish, etc., etc..
I am currently working on some custom door panels for a Ranger show truck at the house for a friend of mine. The door panels, headliner, sub enclosure, console, etc., will all be smoothed, finished, and painted glossy black. I'll take some pics tonight if you're interested in seeing the process.

i made a slip cover out of the fabric i used on the headliner to cover my visors....
just trace ur visor on the back of the fabric

then flip the visor and trace it again

then cut it out, fold it, then sew the sides and bottom

then flip the fabric inside out so the side u want showing is showing and slip the visor inside the fabric

then hand sew the top of the fabric to close it up

and u are done....hope it helped
