Rockford Fosgate FNQ3146 are they any good?
Ok I was thinking of maybe getting these they look pretty nice but has anyone ever used them? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12522
I've heard them and I didn't like them. They're made to look pretty and go in show cars, not to sound good. For the price I'd rather go Diamond Audio, MB Quart, or Focal. Any of those would sound much better than these.
Don't buy speakers beacuse of the way they look - if they're pretty that just means that the company threw all their money at the design of the speakers and not the way they sound. Ask anyone whose had a ton of experience in the field - the best sounding speakers don't look flashy - they're usually just black.

Hell no. Do not get them. Rockford sucks when it comes to full fange and component speakers. Yes definately look into CDT, Focal, Diamond Audio, Boston Acoustics. Out of those 4 brands pretty much you can get most of them for cheaper than the Rockfords for the price. Plus the sound quality will be alot better.
You do realize that this is a 3-way system, right?
I don't know how you were planning to install.
The other posts are correct in saying that Diamond Audio, Focal, CDT, Boston, etc.are good speakers. However, I feel that it is unfair to say that Rockford sucks.
I have heard all of the above speakers, and I feel that RF has components that can compete head to head with the best of them. Sound quality is very subjective, what I like you mey not, and the other way around. RF does own MB Quart, which also means they own their patents, facilities, and pay their engineers.
Check out the 2004 model T162S From Rockford. It will fit better into your tC and retail for $349.

RF was decent in the early 90s... not anymore. If I can walk into a huge chain like Walmart or Best Buy and spend bottom dollar on some car audio equipment, that pretty much means it's junk in my book.

What people fail to realize is price point. If speaker X is 500 and speakers Y is 250, of course something is going to give.
As for your analogy with honda and acura, yes they both are the same quality, but you cant compair a TL with an Accord because the TL is at a higer price and has more bells and whistle. And yes the TL still has the ____ty transmission the Accord does. Along with the Odyssey and just about every auto tranny with a v6.
If a mass retail carries a certain product it doesnt me the product is crap. You again have to base it on price. So what are you gonna think about Alpine when Best Buy starts to carry them in 2005? Mass retail has a higher standard to uphold because of their reputation, but of course there are some "C" lines for the cheaper customers. You have to look at it in a logistical view and not what you see on the outside.
I am not sure how everyone's taste in music is, some prefer loud, some clean, and some clean and loud... FNQ's are designed to be moderately loud, however reproduce music very accurately... be warned... they are not everyone's cup of tea... like diamond audio's comps... many people talk crap about them because they blow up, but don't realize that they are more for music reproduction at moderate volumes with smooth jazz type of music ... not cranking the music to linkin park or hard rock...
many components sets that retail over $600 weren't designed to be sold to the 16 year old that just got there licenses and are going to put a system in their cars...
Rockford recently gave MB quart back to the German govt, and alpine is now in Best Buy in my area... =\ they have been in Circuit City for some time now though....

You guys do know most car audio companies OEM home audio speakers anyway right? For instance, CDT uses Vifa (PLs for the HD series and MGs for the European series) and Alpine uses Audax for some models and their top of the line components uses a Scan Speak Revelator/ Vifa combo. There are only a handful of speaker builders in the world.
