Default RS3.0 HU display question

I just picked up my RS3.0 yesterday and am still learning all about the Alpine HU. I did RTFM, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the entire name of a song/artist to scroll when in Satellite Radio mode. Only so much text fits across the display, and it seems that you should be able to set the display to scroll to see the entire text. Any hints?

According to the manual, it says it can only display up to 10 characters...

yeah you can only scroll in ipod mode as far as I know. and that is dumb that it does not just scroll automaticly in a fluid motion accross the screen how much more could that have cost to incorporate that into that HU, someone was saying they could but out an update that you would load onto a CD and update the HU, but I doubt it.

To scroll the display in CD or IPOD mode, but not satellite mode, hold down the "TEXT" button for about 3 or 4 seconds. It will then beep and you can scroll the display to the right by using the "^" on the selector. Once you are done with the display, just press the "TEXT" button again without holding it and it will return to normal after about 2 seconds. Satellite mode does seem like there is no way to overcome the 10 character limitation. The book states that only the first 10 characters are shown for it. It is a bummer since this is the most likely source to need scrolling text, but most of the time it gives me enough information that I still know what it's supposed to say in full.
