Default Schosche Kit Sucks

I ordered my receiver install kit from cardomain.com and it came promptly.

However the kit is glue together wrong!! Usually a kit comes and you piece it together. This one came pre glued together which would have been just fine however the brackets that angle were on upside down. I tried to remove them so i could switch the side and mount them correstly but they broke off.
I m call cardomain tommarow to complain and demand a new kit. Maybe this will be right.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I second that...with the metra kit there is no need for glue everything just snaps in and cut for car i.e. for xA xB or tC. and i dunno the pocket on the metra looks better that any other kits i've seen for the scion.

I have used three of the Scoche kits., and had to grind and glue and cut on all three to make them fit properly, one in a mustang, one in a saturn and one in a cavalier. Plus the color never looked right on them. As far as I am concerned I will never use one again. Not to mention they provide very little method for supporting the sides of the head unit. I am looking for other brands to try when I start the sound system in my tC. Let me know if anyone finds a good quality one!

just talked with crutchfield. they told me American International makes their kit.. their kits have always been the best.. yeah never going back to those "trim yourself" kits.. what a joke.. that's the 80's!

also he told me he's already talked to customers with the tC and they haven't had a problem with the radio door closing using that kit.. but he couldn't tell me if the kit allowed the radio to change depth (to clear the door), but no problem so far, i bet it'll work fine.. i chatted online with a nice guy (think it was a guy) named G.T. he gave me his extension 3222 he was willing to dig for the info.. i appreciate that!

metra kit....no glue just snap-in and screw and your set. you can choose between cage or iso mount. never had any problem with opening or closing the door for the tC.

pics....

hey CRxB.. did you use the iso mount? that's where it's screwed into the sides? does iso mount work on the tC? i always thought that was more sturdy than the cage. let me know.. thanks

Looks very good CRxB!
BTW I just ordered mine but it has not come in yet. Check out this e-bay seller...he lets you make an offer on his items. That dash kit + harness was priced at $30 for both; I offered 25 and he shipped it to me next day. Should be here tomorrow. I'll update you guys once it comes in.

Actually I used the cage mount cause the way metra ISO was kinda weird and not the typical way you iso mount. besides, the way alpine makes the cage mount is sturdy enough for me.

that's actually pretty good cause usually they average about $35-40 for both the kit and harness in retail stores. nice find. I think you should make a separate post about this find.

traditional ISO mounts require you to remove the whole mounting brackets and pocket to remove the radio. Metra's ISO mount allows you to remove the radio without removing the kit or dash. it gives you a clean look with the trim ring provided.

I saw the Schosche kit at a local stereo shop. It just reeks cheap-quality plastic! I hope Metra's will look better
