Default Scion security, or aftermarket?

What does everyone think about the scionsecurity? I am thinking I want to go with something aftermarket. Has anyone had any issues with the local stereo shops not knowing how to wire their alarms up?

go aftermarket. the reason i say this is because you can get a viper 350hv (alarm and keyless entry) from your local best buy for about 250 installed. the only reason that i would go with the scion security, is if i couldnt afford it aftermarket and wanted it in my payments.

hope this helps

Is there any additional hardware necessary with the viper 350hv?

but isn't your insurance cheaper if you order it with a security system?

I had Best Buy install a Viper 350HV because I get gift certificates from a travelclub.

I was not impressed with the install as the unit was zip tied just under the lower dash. They also had to replace "the brain" within the first week.

I went with Best Buy because the price was right. (free) And they do have a lifetime guarentee on their install.

But if I was buying, I would feel better taking my baby to a car audio dealer.

Paid the extra 40.00 for the back up battery. If the thief cuts your battery cable, the alarm still functions with a back-up, rechargable battery.

My insurance went down a whopping $10.00/year after I told them that I had an alarm installed!

The mom/pop type of alarm shops seem to do a better install job vs the local stores such as best buy, and good guys. Definately go with a aftermarket alarm the factory alarm is very overpriced for what you get.

Aftermarket for sure. The Scion system is weak... it has very few features. For the same price you can get a paging system with remote start versus the Scion's... um... flashing LED?
