Default Scion Xa - Xm radio - What do I need?

I have a 2005 Scion Xa, with the Pioneer Xm ready satellite radio. If you visit the Xm radio website it says that this model should already have everything you need, but it appears that my car does not.

Can I simply buy the following and subscribe for the service:

XMDirect Smart Digital Adapter

XMDirect Universal XM Satellite Radio Tuner Box

These total $100. I have read some posts on here saying that you need the Toyota/Scion equipment for $300-$400. What do I really need? I appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks.

As far as I know-from previous experience-you CAN NOT use anything but the BIG $$$ setup from Toyota. I've been to every car audio shop around and they all told me it's only from the factory and they ARE NOT going to make an aftermarket harness. SUCKS!!!!
