Default Scion xB 2005 Interior smell

I have had my xB for 2 years. The new car smell wore off long ago. But for past few months there is a horrible chemical smell. It is almost unbearable!
Thought it was exhaust getting into car etc..But it smells bad just getting in the car after it sat overnight.
Again, this is a recent thing. Any suggestions?
I have looked everywhere for something left in the car...can't seem to find anything.
Thanks...
I am new, but just bought 2nd Scion, an xD a few weeks ago. We love Scions!

take it to a specialist and play it off for some reason so they can get a quick look/smell of your car. Hopefully they'll have some suggestions.

If someone with really bad BO was in the car, the smell might never go away.

You might have to sell it.

^^^ LOL like on seinfeld!

I'm going to state the obvious first... You probably did this already.

Did you check for any kind of spills? Give your car a good detailing, and see if that helps.

I've got a smell coming from my AC when I first turn it on. Smells like something is wet, but not a chemical smell.

I'm going to check to see if there are any other filters or vents i can change besides the ac filter behind the glove box.

For the musty smelling AC there is a product made in Germany that cleans it out and makes it smell new again. Otherwise it's time to let the nose sniff out where the smell is coming from.

Put a fabric softner sheet under your seats. They absorb odors and give the car a fresh smell.

if you can park your car for a few days, get a couple of boxes of baking soda, open one and pour it out everywhere, spread it out fairly evenly, on/under seats, under the dash, on the carpet, under the back cover, on the back cover, under the bottom of the back seat, and on the back seat, take two more boxes, open them and set them under the driver and passenger seats, let it sit over the weekend and vacuum it out, then leave the two full boxes in there for a week or two, after a few days the smell will be gone, we do this alot at my job where a car reaks of wet dog, or when someone dumps gas inside of a car to burn it

long story short, someone vandalized a new 07 chevy 3500 crew cab, dumped about 15 gallons of gas inside it and in the bed, lit the spare in the bed and it just burnt the inside of the bed, spare tire, and back of cab, we put 2 large boxes of baking soda inside the cab, and 2 large boxes dumped in the cab just so we could drive it to another company to get the gasoline out of it, $3800 later we had no gas smell but nasty chemical smells

I would scrub the seats and carpets. Someone could have picked up fuel or oil on their shoes at the pump getting gas....if you want that "new car" smell back, check out detailking.com , they have the best one I have found...all their detailing supplies are great...
