Default Sirius Radio instead of XM Radio

Is this legitimate?

Everything they advertise is aimed towards XM Radio, but what if I want Sirius instead, can the unit directly connect into the head unit ??

If I was you I would definately go with sirius, i have it in my wrx and I love it, and another one of the perks of getting sirius is that as of january 1st 2006 you can listen to howard stern!! To get Sirius and still keep the pioneer head unit you would have to buy one of those add on sirius tuners that uses an fm modulator.

glad to see your're thinking about sirius...I've been w/ sirius since they launched and i agree there seems to be a bias toward xm...anyway there is a site that lets you hookup a sirius receiver to you toyota cd controlling head unit you'll need that adapter and an antenna and receiver... good luck www.soundgate.com

No. It can not.
And any 'FM' based connection makes the sound worse. Not worth it. You would be better off getting another head unit that will allow you to have SIRIUS instead.

The toyota converter part..

PIOTOY1
To Pioneer 6 or 12-disc CD changers
and XM Satellite Radio Tuner
Part# PIOTOY1
Looks like it only works with XM Radio...

I couldn't find any other adapters.

Nope, can't be done because the XM interface to the stock head unit is proprietary.

The same regulations that will allow Howard Stern to use potty language on Sirius also allows Sirius and XM to have proprietary receivers. Both of these are private services, so their receivers don't have to be compatible with anything. XM and Toyota have a private agreement that gives XM exclusive access to Toyota's head unit and Toyota's customers. Isn't it nice to know that Toyota has sold you as a customer to XM?

TOYOTA INTERFACES
Now you can install a Kenwood, Pioneer, or Sony CD changer into your 1998 and newer Toyota (and some Lexus) with CD changer control radio.

With our Kenwood interface, you can install a Kenwood 6 or 10-disc CD changer, Sirius Satellite Radio tuner, or both, and control them directly from your factory radio.

And with our Pioneer interface, you can install a Pioneer 6 or 12-disc CD changer, Pioneer XM Satellite Radio tuner, or both, and control them directly from your factory radio.

KNTOY1
To Kenwood 6 or 10-disc CD changers
and Sirius Satellite Radio tuners
Part# KNTOY1

PIOTOY1
To Pioneer 6 or 12-disc CD changers
and XM Satellite Radio Tuner
Part# PIOTOY1
this is the info for you kntoy1 is for sirius

Where would that be? Mine is on the top, right hand rear. I hardly notice it, due to the spolier but, still. I am curious as to where else it would go.
