yes i ahve sprayed many cars. It is very similar to spraying a car, don't do it right yoou'll get runs, or a whole bunch at the bottom. The spray was designed to get into tight areas, not do an entire vehicle, it will still work though. sometimes the spray costs more than laying sheet. The actual sheet material is much better.

very big difference. I used Scoche Accumat and it made a big difference. The xB come with no sound deadening material and through the doors comes most of the noise. The sheet metal is also very thin so noise goes through the sheetmetal easily. If you are bothered by road noise put Accumat, Dynamat, or whatever you can afford that is of good quality. I would recommend Accumat. Very good quality. Dynamat is also very good and affordable. I have used both and i like the Accumat over Dynamat but that is my opinion. I am sure there are others out there other than Accumat or Dynamat.

If anyone has them I would like to see pics of the material applied to the doors and rear hatch. I have 70sq ft of Brownbread in my garage but have not had the time to put it in.

Dynamat is far from affordable. Cost you a set of rims to dynamat your car witht he good stuff. :o

But that Dynamat Extreme is good **** though.

Just bought some Rammat60, not sure how it'll do yet. I'll post about it later.

I used fatmat in my xb. So far I have three door with two layers and the rear floor area done with one layer. I still have to do the pass side rear door and remove the front seats so I can do the rest of the floor. This stuff really does take some time to install, my fatmat sat around for weeks before I was motivated to do it.

I don't know about acoustical foam, don't think it's made for a car..but not for sure.

I used b-quiet extreme, pretty cheap, went on real easy, little to no smell, sticks like hell. Seems to quiet down the car nicely, although I only put it on the doors and floor. It is like 1/3 the cost of dynamat. I am sure people use dynamat b/c it may be better than the competition(from what some say), but way too damn expensive for a broke-___ guy like myself.

Here's an idea: Length x Width = sq.ft.
And you wondered if you'd ever need geometry. :D

Do a search on carsound.com for foam and like substances. The ID demo car was covered in it a while back.

its not ghetto, I have my hatch open right now so another can of it can dry. I dynamated the entire rear half using more than a bulk pack, the rest of the second is in my garage, I just havn't gotten around to doing it.

as far as the effectiveness of it, the dynamat extreme was ok for the inside of the car, but the outside sounded like ___, so I was talking to a good buddy of mine that works at a audio shop(its a chain of 5-6 of them) he said that they use great stuff on all their spl vans. so I was at walmart, and decided to pick up 2 cans to do my hatch. I used them both, its going to take alot of cans.

if you think about it, the foam will expand and press against the panels and hold them out, if they can't come on and they can't go farther out, then it won't rattle. ill let you know how it turns out, I need acouple more cans for the hatch.

i did the expansion foam in the trunk of my bonneville. turned out very well. what i wound up doing was goin to the local homedepot and pickin up some double expanding foam and spraying inside the trunk lid track (where the trunk sheet metal is welded to the trunk) and behind my tail lights. turned out very well, but i would reccomend using it along with the dynanat or whatever you use.

Jim
