hey guys i'm planning on going with focal 165a in the front, and focal 130ca in the rear hatch. my question is, should i mount the tweeter from the components in the dash or should i go with 4inch focals speakers in the dash? another question, i'm hooking them up to the stock hu. should i amp them?

visual aid...
165a (front)

130ca (hatch)

What would you do with the tweeter if you don't mount it in the dash and go with the 4" speakers?
I say forget the 4"ers and get a custom bracket fabricated to fit the tweeter in the door (you know that little peice where the window rolls up closest to the front of the door).
I'm not really uesd to dealing with the lower end Focal so I can't tell you exactly the kind of power to push them with but I can tell you that you would definetly benifit from amping them.

If you can I would get another set of Focal components and get your two rear doors fitted for them and totally delete the rear speakers in the cargo area (save the space for bass.....=D)

Of course that's if you haven't already purchased the speakers.
In that case I would look into going for a higher model Focal comp.
I don't hear much about their lower stuff but the Utopia and Polyglass do some incredable things!!!!

well i was planning to go with focal. but i just wanted to spend around 600 on speakers, so i thought focal would be nice. should i go with something else?

but, this was what i was planning to do if i went with the 4 inch speakers. i would mount the tweeters there.

IMO i would probably leave them in the stock locations opposed to those.. they would be too close to your ears and too far from each other... Polykevlars and utopias are nice speakers.. the poly glass are nice as well but don't hold power as nice...

The stock loactions actually seem to have good imaging... for stock speakers, i don't know how they sound with high end stuff yet however

Are you planning to mount the 4" where the red dot is? It really serves no purpose unless you want your shoulders to do the listening. Plus that would bring your sound too close to you. Especially to one ear and would be too dominate. Keep the speakers forward as possible.

Personally im happy with my kick panels (not for everyone), but if you need to mount the tweeter somewhere, id mount the on the lower "A" pillar, about 1 or 2 inches from the stock locating with the tweeter firing towards the center of the dash. Just my opinion.

Just FYI I have audiobahn ABC6003Q components, which utilize the stock speakers, additional 4" speakers, & tweeters. I put the tweeters in the stock tweeter location, & mounted the 4" mids down next to the stock speakers. Its not great quality, but this gives an idea of how it looks:

The 4" speaker will not fit in the dash without making some custom plates ... I have 4" speakers in my dash but I have to make custom plates for them.

really, no 4" speaker will work without modification? Do they make a bracket or is it a matter of height and the grill not fitting?
