Default Speakers in A Pillars

I think I am going to try and tackle this, just wondering if anyone had done it yet. If so, pics would be nice. Thanks

What tweeters are you putting up there??? If you don't have any yet, I'd suggest CDT's upstage system.....if you're just wanting to add tweeters and want them to sound good, not harsh...get these.....they'll give you a soundstage out of this world......

I have used CDT's before, there are nice speakers, but I am going a different route this time. They are called virtual technologies.

Are you talking about just the tweeters in the a pillar or the tweeter and the 4"?

Those speakers look really familiar. I wonder if they aren't
rebadged for VT?

I would put the tweeter in the pillar, the 4" in the dash and the mid-bass in the door ... That should give you some killer sound!

I would definetly need some fiberglass and bondo to massage them into the a pillar. As to if they are re-badged I don't know. I think you might be right. They seem to be high quality drivers which is all that really matters.

even if you did get those into the pillars I think they would block the stock grills below and they might look strange. I'm tempted to say that I saw pics from somone who did glass those in but i was a long time ago. If you want to make it easy on yourself install the 4" in the stock location in the dash.

I think I am going to go with kick panels after really thinking this through. I have had a lot of systems over the years, but this is the first new car I have ever bought, so I really want to do it right this time.

I would truly suggest not to do kick panels. Your best best it to mount the 6.5 in the doors and the 4's in the dash and take allot of time and properly mount the tweeter with an angle mount for best imaging. Kick panels take your foot space.

I have tweeters in the pillars and 4s in the stock dash locations. I think it sounds really nice. I can't wait to change out my door speakers to bring some more midbass up front. I would recommend the pillar mount or just below the mirror triangles in the doors.

If you are thinking about custom kicks, you might want to fabricate something to replace the stock dash grills instead. You could make a little housing for the 4 and tweet and angle them for better imaging. I've been thinking about it for a while..

I agree, that's wholly the best solution, but I am generally partial to having tweets
fire INTO the glass to give you better imaging. It really depends on the tweets and
the layout of the dash/glass.

Try to dry test fit the tweets both in the pillar and on the dash firing up into the glass
and see what works best. Just double stick tape or something for a sound test. I
truely feel that the tweets are what give you the most directional audio clues and
placement should be taken very carefully.
