Default speedo gague jacked up after R&R - needles keep dropping

allright - I jacked my speedo. I was getting in there to get the speedo faceplate out so I could scan it on the PC,,just to see how hard it was to get at it (pretty easy). I never even removed the needles - it was late and I just put it back together. When putting the clear lens back on the speedo I bumped a needle, so I just moved it back to where it was and put it together.

Now every time I turn off the car, the needles like go below 0 somewhere after the car sits for a minute or two.

Will it reset itself if I unhook the battery?

Just thought I'd ask before I totally trash it (unless I've totally trashed it)

One thing that may or may not matter I started the car once w/o the speedo installed - I wanted to see if the car would run with no cluster - in case the dash mods I want to do went longer than a day and I'd have to drive to work with no cluster...

did I fubar the speedo?

P.S. - if you are CC or JJ please disregard this post. I never took anything apart on my scion ever

rotate the needles (with the car off) COUNTER-CLOCKWISE all the way around until they are at zero again. Start car, check where they are, turn car off and adjust them more if needed. ALWAYS ROTATE THEM COUNTER-CLOCKWISE. You will feel the needle slipping on the little stem that its stuck on, this is OK.

This same process of twisting the needle counter clockwise can be used to remove the needles completly by pulling on them as you twist.

thx brudda.

I'm going to go take the cluster off again right now so I can scan the faceplate, then I'll see how it goes.

Dont worry about driving without the speedo, I drove my box for a week without it and nothing happened.

I like your speedo design. When I changed mine and bumped the needles I just turned the key on and off and put the needles back on all the zeros.
