Default Stereo Advice

I am starting to look at getting an aftermarket head unit and basicly replacing the stock stereo over all. I am pretty well versed in electronics and such but not so much in the car audio area. I have a few picked out but don't really know the pros and cons of each other then comparing specs and would like to get advice from people who know more then I. I have 2 major requirements. i must be able to add a sirius tuner AND i must be able to add an iPod adapter. I'm not looking to spend an arm an a leg 500-600 i think is realistic. I'm not planning on dding a sub just speakers and the head unit.

Right now i am looking at the Alpine CDA-9851 and the Pioneer DEH-P7700MP (DEH-P80MP if i can find a deal). Other then the sizes i would need i have no idea what i'm getting into about speakers.

Please give me your honest opinion's on the heads and what my best options are for speakers. Preferably the best value

Both of those have the options you want. I thought the Pioneer idea of the one **** was cool looks wise until I actually played with one. I think it is very hard to use. I was always doing some other function often. That was while the car was sitting in the parking lot. I can only imagine how it would be driving. Maybe I didn't have enough time with it but I suggest you play with one first before you decide on the Pioneer.

Any idea on pricing, Brand, model etc....? I'm really looking for the most bang for my buck when it comes to speakers. I really was estatic about the stock system coming from my 92 olds 88 with the Premium sounds system(only 1 speaker worked). So frankly the stock speakers are great now IMO but if i am upgrading the head unit i might as well go all the way considering they might sound like crap with a better/stronger signal coming out of a new head

i would go with the alpine.. for my ears the Alpine is a crisper more accurate sound. I love the way Alpine sounds! You might want to try a new head unit and then see what the speakers sound like, never know.. I've heard people who have done it and were impressed the stock tC speakers sounded so good!

Get the Alpine CDA-9851 and have them running the stock speakers. Unless u get an external amp its pointless to get any aftermarket components. The stock headunit is meant to sound good with little power, and the alpine probably puts out just the right amount.

I suggest the Pioneer. I used to use Alpine but their CD drives always crapped out long before I wanted to buy a new stereo, probably 2 years or so. Pioneers are much more durable. I seriously doubt you'll hear any difference between the two.
