Default Stereo Problem: hit bump, radio off

Hey guys,

I was driving on the 405 last week, and I hit a bump. The radio goes off permanently.

After having it checked out by the dealer, they replaced a fuze and all is well.

It happened again yesterday. Right wheel hits bump, radio goes off permanently.

Any ideas? I've never heard of a fuze going out because of hitting a bump.

Thanks,

Jerry

A loose ground wire wouldn't cause a fuse to blow.

Don't hit bumps!

Seriously, there's a bare connection somewhere that is making ground and blowing that fuse. Take the radio out and inspect the harness and any other wiring in the area. Check the radio jack for excess movement or bent pins.

If a ground wire is connected to the chasis and its comes loose from the headunit and them hits a live power wire it will cause the fuse to blow ...

I have to agree with chadfo ... Don't hit and bumps ... go around them! lol!

yeah definitely have to fix the wiring.. call scion and let them know what's going on.. even if you put in an aftermarket radio same thing will happen.. you've got a short somewhere, make em fix it.. first call scion.. watch things get fixed, not fuses just replaced (aka lazy)..

I would definitly take that to the dealer ASAP especially if that's you second unit. I bet they were just too lazy to check for the real problem and just replaced the unit cause they had one laying around.

just my 2 cents,

Default Thanks

Hey guys,

I wanted to say thank you very much for all your replies. I am amazed at the involvement and the care displayed by all who posted answers.

Right now, they are looking into it. My dealership gave me a rental care to drive while they figure out the puzzle.

Please take care and have fun.

Jerry
