Default Stereo Wiring Question

I transfered my amp and sub from my old car into my tC. I got all new wiring for the tC and the old wires are still in my old car. Everything is great in the tC.

My question is .. now that there are wires not hooked up in my old car why won't the receiver work?? As soon as they are hooked into an amp, the receiver plays. Why is there no power without the connection? Is there a specific wire I need to unhook for the receiver to work stand alone with the component speakers?

I would like a quick fix for this so I can sell my old car and have as little quirks as possible for a decent selling price.

the reason it doesnt play is cuz you had the front and rear speakers playing off a amp right? via rca's... now u dont have that

.....if you had the components amped then that's why it won't work....if this is the case, you need to run the front speaker outputs on the back of your head unit to the inputs on the component crossovers......

I had a 2-channel amp but it was ONLY used for the subwoofer (a Rockford Punch 45.2 with a 12" JL 12W0). I had a premium stock system in my old Dodge Avenger that had its own amp to the component speakers (all Infinity).

I don't know think they channeled the Rockford out 2 ways, but if thats the case do I just unhook the RCA outputs??

I don't know much about any of this, so thanks for not being rude.

if it was in an avenger, chances are that you have the factory infinity speakers which come amped from factory....you'll need to hook the Head Unit amp remote to the harness instead of having it run to wherever your old amp was.....i'd say whoever hooked it up just jumped from the old amp to the stock amp....
