I've been noticing a circular, "ring" type scratches on my CDs when I take them out of my CD player. The first time it happened, I thought it was just a fluke....but now I have 3 or so CDs that I can't even listen to because they skip so much.

These particular CDs have never been in any other CD player, so I know that my car player is doing the damage. All 3 are MP3 CDs, I haven't noticed any damage to my regular, store-bought CDs.

Take it to the dealer. I know on the '04 Scions stock HU, there was a TSB on certain units that scratch CDs. I hope the dealer didn't put a 2004 HU in your 2005 tC. Take it to them. If that doesn't work, dial 1-866-70-SCION.
