Default Stock Speakers

I know what you all are thinking, this has been posted many times. I have checked out plenty of post and it seems that there is a conflict on the actual size of the speakers. Who has actually switched out there stock speakers with aftermarket speakers.

What size speakers did you replace your speakers with. I was looking at 6.5 rears 6.5 doors and 4" dash. Does anyone know if this size will fit for sure with out any mods or whats the deal. Also is the 4" dash speakers just a 4" speaker or is it 4x6" plate with the speaker and tweeter together?

Good help here would be apreciated, I am trying to get my speakers now so I can just do the install when my car comes home. That way I can pull straight into the garage and pull straight out with sounds the nabors will hate.

Dash is 4", NOT 4x6 - and you'll probably have to modify the brackets a little bit to fit

i have image dynamics ctx4 4" component speakers in the dash, and they *just* fit, they are a lot larger than stock, and you have to trim 2 of the mounting tabs to get them to fit.

the doors are 6" - and you'll need to make custom mounting rings to get them in there, but they fit perfectly behind the grates

i think the ones in the rear are 5 1/2 ?? i'm not sure tho as i haven't touched them yet.

hope that helps!

dash monted one has two screws you may need to modify the opening or the speaker grill tab for some to work. THe front door has a speaker adapter that has rivets the actual hole it leaves is bigger then the regular size holes so you need to drill new holes and if your speaker like my alpine that I am using is to deep it will interfere with the window when it is rolled all the way down this where a new adapter would come in handy that pushes the speaker further out and covers the speaker hole.

You would use the same method as for any other rivet. Drill it out. However, I ended up drilling out the rivets and cutting the stock speakers out of their adapters and replacing them with new 6.5" in the door. I used the same riveted piece of crap that they give you and put in my own speakers. In the rear I put 5.25" and they fit just right. In the dash they are regular screws holding them in place, and you can fit any size tweeter up to a small 4" seperate. Depends on how much you want to modify th plate.
