Default Sub for storage or Sub in detachable box!

I've looked through many posts and only noticed topics pertaining to only storage spaces or customs. My question then is what is the better setup:

A sub in the storage space, and the amp under the passenger seat. (if this is best-what is the max size I can put there, brand? Everyone says 10". But if I go that route, I'd want a 12") I like it, but I'd also want the best deal? Those prices are ofly a little high. Whats the cheapest deal out there for this setup?

or

A sub in a regular box, that is not mounted (detachable) if space is needed. (If this is best-10" or 12"....if this is, I plan on using Rockfords...for a 10"-P3 (800x400) and amp is 3001(900). the 12"-p3 (1000x500) and amp is undecided) What are good rockford combinations?

Rockford for this setup because I can get the $500 10" setup for only $200 everything. The 12" setup I thnk wont be any more than this. I dont think. Prolly by a couple of bucks, atmost $50. (amp, sub, install and box, all accessories) Which I think is excellent. what do you think?

what sounds better, the space enclosure or the detachable? I just want it too sound good, don't really care much for the boom, unless I can get the most boom for the cheapest $$$$.

I was also thinking 2 under both front seats. but I dont know about the boom in front, and nothing in the back. Too close for my ears.

What would you choose?

Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Just want to see what others are thinking if this was the dilemna they were in.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Miki,

You should come out to ScionNight or to the BBQ in Sacramento. We have people running underseat subs, built-in, just a detachable speaker box. You can sit in each one and take a listen. Really, its the best way to find out what you like.

P.S. Tell Jason the Wife & I say hi!

Take Danny's advised and come on out and check out the different set-ups we are running. I have 10s under the front seats, and a 10 in the back. I wanted to keep the install as "stealthy" as possible, and Chris at Rockstar Customs has done a pretty good job. No one knew I had 10s under the front seats until I told them.

Right now I I have a single cheapo 10" removable woofer and my amp in the back storage location. I keep the factor cover of the amp.

I am really happy with the sound. It's very balanced with plenty of bass. If the sub was better I know it would sound awesome. I am think of building a custom sub enlosure for below the passenger seat or buying this one from ebay.

These underseat enclosures typically on hold a 10" because your limited with volume. The only 12" enclosure that wont take up space is the one from spfr.com that comes with a 12" idq sub.

Default Thank you!

Thanks for all the awesome advice. Glad to see theres others who like to help, and not downgrade for not knowing. (I wont mention what other forum that is, its off subject). I thought this would be one of those questions. But you made me see, that this is a great forum that everyone else so happens to love.

I will take all considerations from both Danny and Squirrel, But how will I know, who's who in the many hundreds of people out there. I dont want to just go up to anyone and look like a spectator (hahahahahahaha). Then again, I wonder if Jason remembers how you look like, Danny or the Wifey. BTW, CONGRATS! :D

Thanks Neckbone for all the awesome layouts. Its great seeing all my options all under one post.

SPFR isn't the only company that makes an enclosure for that storage area. Audioformz makes one as well that's for a 10" sub, and he's very professional. If you do a search for Audioformz, you'll find plenty of posts about it.

I'd be verrrry careful when dealing with SPFR...i've had a terrible experience with him.
You can read about it here:

I'd hate for someone else to go through the same headaches I have.

I do know it's either going to be under the front seat or in the rear cargo space. Screw those big boxes that take all the space in the hatch area.

I've seen a lot of good ideas for sub enclosures in xB's. For ine, I went ahead and used the factory styrofoam bucket and cover. We cut out the top peice and fibergalassed the two together including the inside. I used a Bazooka RSW 10" speaker monted upside down. Just did that to finish the way the box looked and the sub is chrome anyway. the setup looks really nice and a lot of guys here in Chicago that have seen it like it. It's low key but flashy. No pics up yet but it looks really good.

Everyone who heard it last night at midnight mayhem was impressed. I t fit under the passenger seat and doesn't take up any cargo area.
